PARENT/TEACHER CONFERENCES: WORKING TOGETHER FOR SUCCESS
When parents and teachers work together, students do better. Now that report cards are out, it may be a good time to schedule a meeting with your child's teacher.
Missing school means missing out! Absences add up. Even one missed day a month can affect your child's grades. When your child attends school on time, all day and every day, they have a better chance for success.
READING TIPS
At this meeting, known as a parent/teacher conference, you can discuss the following things with your child's teacher:
? Areas where your child does well ? Areas where your child needs extra help ? Ways that you can help your child at home
You can contact your child's teacher to set up a meeting using Parent Portal.
MAKING THE GRADE: WHAT GRADE DID YOUR SCHOOL GET?
Help your child become a happy, confident reader with these tips: ? Help your child pick
books that are at their reading level. ? Take turns reading at bedtime. ? Ask your child questions about the story they've just read. ? Encourage your child to re-read favorite books.
Just like your child gets a report card, your child's school also got a report card. The Texas Education Agency (TEA) is the agency in charge of public schools in Texas. TEA recently gave your child's school a letter grade (A-F). Find your school's letter grade at:
