PROPOSEDPROMOTION/RETENTION/PLACEMENT GUIDELINESKindergarten At the end of Kindergarten, a student must: Meet 90% of the ELA/Reading standards (Must master- 39 out of 43 standards).Meet 90% of the math standards (Must master- 22 out of the 24 standards). Must score at the 25th percentile or higher on a National Normed referenced reading assessment. Must score at the 25th percentile or higher on a National Normed referenced math assessment. Must identify and recall fluently 100 sight words or more. Must demonstrate fluency within 5 for addition and subtraction. 1st grade At the end of 1st grade, a student must: Meet 90% of ELA/ Reading standards (Must master- 66 out of 73 standards). Meet 90% of math standards (Must master- 21 out of 24 standards). Must score at the 25th percentile or higher on a National Normed referenced reading assessment. Must score at the 25th percentile or higher on a National Normed referenced math assessment. Must identify and recall fluently 200 sight words or more. Must demonstrate fluency within 10 for addition and subtraction. (count up- count back) 2nd grade At the end of 2nd grade, a student must: Meet 85% of ELA/Reading standards (Must master- 61 out of 72 standards). Meet 85% of math standards (must master- 24 out of 28 standards). Must score at the 25th percentile or higher on a Nationally Normed referenced reading assessment. Must score at the 25th percentile or higher on a Nationally Normed referenced math assessment. Must identify and recall fluently 300 sight words or more. Must receive a Lexile score of 345 or higher Must demonstrate fluency within 20 for addition and subtraction. Grades 3-8ALL students will be expected to meet the following criteria to be considered for a full promotion:?Participate in Georgia Milestones administration and retest, if applicable.Pass 4/5 or 5/6 academic subjectsMeet the minimum requirement of Reading Lexile Band for grade levelMust score at the 25th percentile of a norm referenced test for math and reading.?MASTERY CRITIERA??Grades 9 through 12credits spelled out for "grade" placement?*The principal has final responsibility for the promotion, retention, and/or placement of all students except for students in special education whose placement must be determined in accordance with the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA). There shall be no appeal of promotion, retention and/or placement decisions beyond the school level. ................
