Come join the Birmingham Bicycle Club for our 42nd Annual Century, one of the most beautiful centuries in the Southeast. Our starting location this year will be Ashville High School located on U.S. 231 just south of downtown Ashville, AL. Routes of 27, 65 and 103 will be offered- all recreational friendly and scenic.

Post Meal provided beginning @ 11:00 a.m.

This ride is included in the Alabama Backroad Century Series,

Onsite registration opens at 7:00 a.m.

Directions:

Ashville is 40 miles north of Birmingham and 25 miles south of Gadsden. At I-59, Exit 166, take US-231 towards Oneonta/Ashville. Turn right onto US-231/AL-53; Turn right onto Court St./US-231/AL-53; Follow US-231S fm downtown Ashville. Ashville H. S. will be on your right about 1.5 miles just before CR26.

SAG and Rest Stops:

SAG vehicles will be on patrol to assist cyclists in need. There are rest stops throughout the route fully stocked and include restroom facilities.

McEntyre Baptist Church (RS 1)

Steele United Methodist Church (RS 2 &3)

St. Clair Springs Baptist Church (RS 4)

Route Information: (all mileages are approximate)

Family Friendly (27 miles) White Road Markings

This is a scenic family friendly route which includes 1200 ft. of climbing. It will take you through farmlands and out to Neely Henry Lake. Pass roads called Lickskillet. One RS at the 15.5 mile mark. Take your time and visit the historic John Looney cabin en route.

Metric Century (65 miles) Green Road Markings This recreational friendly metric century climbs just under 2300 ft. A northern loop will take you to Riddles Bend and then over to Steele. A southern loop will take you to St. Clair Springs, through the Shoal Creek Valley and back to Ashville.

Full Century (103 miles) Orange Road Markings

The full century includes the metric route with the addition of a northern loop up to Rainbow City. Very scenic ride through Riddles Bend following the Coosa River. An additional loop around Chandler Mountain completes the century. The total climb for this century route is just under 4300 ft. Hammer away or take your time and enjoy the ride!

1) Acknowledge that I understand that bicycling is a strenuous and potentially hazardous activity and that I am qualified, in good health and in proper physical condition to participate in the BBC Century. I further acknowledge that the BBC Century will be conducted on public roads and facilities open to the public where the hazards of traveling are to be expected and that risks

might arise from my own actions or inactions, the actions and inactions of others, or the conditions in which the BBC Century takes place, and I fully accept and assume such risks and all responsibilities for losses, costs and damages I incur as a result of my participation in the

BBC Century.

2) Hereby release, discharge and covenant not to sue the BBC, League of American Bicyclists, their respective administrators, directors, agents, officers, members, volunteers and employees, other participants, sponsors, advertisers and owners and lessors of premises on which the BBC Century takes place from all liability, claims, demands, losses or damage on my account.
