UGA Athletic Association giving $1 million for experiential learning University of Georgia Athletic Association will establish a $1 million endowment to support the university's new experiential learning initiative. The association's board of directors approved the contribution during its spring meeting. "The athletic association has a strong track record of supporting the university's most important academic initiatives," said President Jere W. Morehead, who also serves as chair of the board, "and none is more relevant to the institution right now than this initiative designed to further enhance student learning at UGA." (Georgia Trend)
Georgians Could Save $617 Million By Eating Less Salt Georgians could save more than $600 million a year in healthcare costs by eating less sodium. That's according to a recent report from the advocacy organization Center for Science in the Public Interest. Nation-wide, the savings could be as high as $24 billion a year. Too much sodium can cause heart disease and stroke. People eat about a teaspoon and a half of salt a day. That's half a teaspoon more than is recommended. It makes a big difference, said Jim O'Hara, director of health promotion policy with the group. (Georgia Trend )
WASHINGTON: The Senate Armed Services Committee has joined the push to give the Army a much larger role in the Pacific. The hard part, ironically, may be getting the Army to go along. "US ground forces should be giving these concepts and capabilities more attention than they have been," a House staffer agreed. "This is a great opportunity for the Army, in particular, to leverage the unique capabilities and characteristics of land forces to play a new and important role in places like the Western Pacific. It is puzzling that the level of interest within big Army is so low." With the Army feeling even more under siege than the other services, building a whole new capability is daunting. But it could give the Army new missions and new sources of funding.
Emails show Clinton's interest in arming Libyan rebels despite prohibitions Recently released emails detail then-Secretary of State Hillary Clinton's interest in arming Libyan opposition groups using private security contractors before the fall of Muammar Qaddafi in 2011 ? though at the time, the opposition was not formally recognized by the U.S. or United Nations, which prohibited arming without following strict guidelines and oversight.
The issue remains so sensitive that the emails recently released by the State Department redacted a key line on the matter. But the unredacted version of the same email, released to the congressional Benghazi Select Committee and first posted by The New York Times last Thursday, showed Clinton appearing to endorse the idea of using private contractors to her then-deputy chief of staff, Jake Sullivan.
"FYI. The idea of using private security experts to arm the opposition should be considered," Clinton wrote to Sullivan on April 8, 2011, attaching an intelligence report from Hillary's adviser Sidney Blumenthal. The opposition was known as the Transitional National Council, or TNC.

Taking names
Should you keep track of the people who say you're going to fail, who actively work against you, who troll your best work? Should you try to win over the haters and those that so cruelly root against you? I wonder if it makes more sense to spend as much (or
even more) time with the fans and supporters and sneezers who work so hard to help you succeed. It seems to me that this is more productive, more fun and likely to make more change happen... Yes, take names. Of the good guys. ?Seth Godin

Lights shine more brightly when the night is at its darkest moment. Stars illuminate the skies with more beauty and brilliance when there is no glare from the glow of a city. Light also brings shadows and can cause blindness. Light even creates illusions of things that do not exist - like streams of water on parched desert sand. But there is one Light that enables us to see the light. It is the Light of God that comes from the Word of God when His Word and His ways are illuminated by His Holy Spirit. Psalm 36 contains an important theme for the Christian. All too often we willingly accept the teachings of individuals who offer a solution to our problems from sources that are not consistent with God's truth. David clearly warns us about this problem. He writes that we may unwisely "flatter" ourselves because we are "deceived" by not being able to "detect sin." He offers the solution for the method we are to use to discriminate the truth about sin, "in Your light we see light." John clearly emphasized this also, "God is light," he assures us, "and in Him there is no darkness." Light represents what is good, pure, true, holy and reliable. Darkness, on the other hand, represents what is sinful and evil. The light that comes from God's Word is true and reliable and will guide us from the darkness of sin into the Light of God's love, mercy and grace. His Light will save us from the sin of self-deception and death.
