If you are not: it will result in a disciplinary action.Bring required supplies to class.Students will remain in the classroom except for emergencies.No gum chewing, eating, or drinking in the classroom.Profane or abusive language is not allowed.At the end of the period, the bell does not dismiss you, I dismiss you.When you have an excused absence, see me immediately for your makeup work. Safety, sanitation, and honesty are necessities for this program to be successful. You and your child need to read and understand that any violation can result in immediate removal from class with no credit given. Regular attendance is very important to be able to learn all objectives. It can also cause hardships on fellow co-workers. Tardiness will not be tolerated; when you are late it disrupts and delays instruction. It indicates disinterest and lack of commitment. This program is designed to cover a lot of material and provide you with real life experiences; therefore, it is necessary to manage our time well. Professional attire is required for the workplace. The uniform is designed for safety as well as looking professional.Personal hygiene is a requirement for the workplace; therefore, it is required for training. Crosby ISD, Harris County Health Department and ServSafe policies will be followed.These classes teach new skills and if you don’t willingly participate, you won’t be able to learn and improve the knowledge and skills that you will need in the workplace. Written tests, projects, practical examinations, labs and daily grades will be on your report card.VIOLATIONS THAT ARE CAUSE FOR IMMEDIATE DISMISSAL FROM THE PROGRAM ARE:Playing with or pointing a knife at another student.Theft: Money from the register, class equipment, supplies or food.Verbal abuse, threats, obscenities, physical abuse, shouting towards another student, teacher, or staff. This program is an occupational program that helps students prepare for the world of work as well as advanced education in the area of Culinary, Hospitality, Food Service Management and Customer Service. These programs give students laboratory experience in a licensed restaurant and classroom instruction that will provide the knowledge and skills needed for gainful employment in these areas. Your child will earn a ServSafe Certification. On completion of these courses their Senior year; your child will graduate under the Business and Industry EndorsementIn these classes, your child will be learning skills needed to enter the job market. Skills will include menu planning, cost control, sanitation and safety, the proper use of commercial equipment and food production. Proficiency tests will be given throughout the program to insure your child has acquired the knowledge and skills required. All necessary precautions will be taken to insure your child’s safety while using all equipment in the laboratory.To help ensure your child’s safety in the laboratory, they will need to wear a short sleeve shirt, a pair of long pants without holes or rips and a pair of leather, non-skid shoes with a sock that will cover their ankle. Students will have a locker to store books and valuables in during class and for his/her chef hat when not being worn.
