Instead of discussing agenda item by item, it was recommended by Mike that the board covers all agenda items all at once, once completed, open each item up for questions Recap of 2020League received the Chicagoland Pitch and Hit Club AwardPlayed the season under Covid restrictionsSeason started July 7th and went to 3rd week of October for 53 championshipPlayed 12 game season plus full playoff schedule. Due to bad weather and limited team availability for makeup games, not all teams were able to play 12 games Utilized 2 new fields, South Holland and Bourbonnais. Attempted to work on AG school but too much work to do at much expenseMSBL crossover games, some could not be rescheduled due to field availability and playoffs starting for both leagues Next Meeting Thursday February 18th 7:30pmLocation TBDTeams need to bring in a minimum deposit of $500Possible late start of season in 2021 due to Covid. I feel confident however, we will be able to play a full season starting in late April/early May. High school season is May 3rd to June 26. Saturday games will be difficult to schedule during this timeIf a late start is required, our season will begin week after July 4th 1. Mike Ordman introduced as new board member. Mike volunteered and the board unanimously voted and approved 2. If age divisions require a decision on matters, at the end of league meeting we will have age divisional VPs conducting those break-out sessions (25s-Vito, 45’s-Conlin, 53s-Dom, 60’s Mike) 3. COVID Illinois Restrictions for 2021We are in region 10 which is currently under a Tier 2 status. Limit of 10 guests in meetings.Mask mandate until June 3rd4. Possible new umpire association to be used this year. No decision as to whom yet. League checking with several associations. These umpire associations will come at a much higher cost than what we pay today. Another option is to add 8 more umpires to the crew. if we cannot add more umpires, a decision will be made on which umpire association to go with 5. Social media. Facebook page, website. We are looking for team pictures to post to show accumulative history Website will provide teams with waivers, rules, rosters, schedules, stats, player playoff eligibility Need Ideas for more info to be placed on website 6. Protest process for ineligible player for age or not on roster: Protest must be initiated before, during or immediately after the game before umpires leave the field and are still present. Reason for the protest and Signatures from the home plate umpire and opposing manager must be obtained. If this procedure is not followed, Protest will NOT be honored 7. Fields: Looking at EPHS, Brother Rice, Lewis College, Morainne Valley, Orland Hills, Berwyn (west harlem south of 31st st, South Suburban College, South Holland on 173 State EPHS awaiting response from Facility Director Brother Rice doesn’t want to commit to summer schedule due to possibly changing synthetic turf Lewis available for playoffs in September/October Orland Hills have lights and available for 60’s, no pitchers mound Current Fields: Eisenhower HS, Oak Lawn, Midlothian, Oak Forest Shooter, Westmont, Bourbonnais, South Holland Gowens Status Unknown: LincolnWay North Need additional day fields for regular season games and reserve dates for rainouts Midlothian - Obtained 35 dates for Tuesdays thru Thursdays June thru August 8. Crossover games with MSBL will continue. Each Roy Hobbs team per age division will play each MSBL in that age division once this season Discussion regarding All Star games at Ozinga field in all age divisions. Games will be played in mid-July or mid-August depending on season start date. Player selection and team managers will be discussed at a later date 9. Final Team Rosters need to be turned in before the start of the season when schedules are distributed Teams will need to have jerseys and numbers by start of the season Team rosters will be posted on website Use of lineup card will be enforced this year. Cards will contain team roster on one column and batting order with full name and number in the other column. Blank Lineup cards will be located on website to be downloaded. . All substitute and injured players need to attend the game to be counted. Players not in uniform will not be allowed to playThis will lead to other opportunities: 10. Starting in 2021, League will keep stats. Mike Ordman will be Point Of Contact. Mike discussed the procedure and is creating a new scorebook format. No team will need to purchase their own score book. The league Will Provide Following each game, both managers will send a photo of the score page to Mike for him to complete the stats. Team Managers will have 4 days to send in their score page. If after 4 days, no stats will be counted Game accumulative Stats will be stored on the web site End of year awards banquet will be held Playoff Eligibility Retaining stats will also allows the league to track minimum amount of time played in order to qualify for playoffs. February meeting we will need to vote if we will do this Need to decide which metrics to use for eligibility participation (% or a number of games played)11. League fees and Due Date for final balance due before start of the season. Any team not paid in full, games will not count in the standings nor will player stats. If a team has an outstanding balance, games will not count12. League will renew 3 year insurance policy at $340 team. Covers all our field liability, umpires and 20 players on your roster for supplemental insurance. Covers travel to/from games and any injury incurred during the game13. Since several teams typically cannot play all their games due to in climate weather at end of season or because of team conflicts, John Conlin proposed that we do not use the point system in the standings. John proposes that we go with Win percentage. if there is no scenario that would cause issue with this, the league will adopt this new Win percentage to determine team ranking in the standings13. We are planning to feature a Player of the Month article. League will choose a player or managers can submit a nominee 14. Discussion regarding a mid-year picnic. A recommendation was made to use Westmont picnic area15. There will be no 35 Division this year 25’s Currently at 3 teams- Giants, Jets, New Team: Cyclones-Roger/Chet Possibly Red Barons-Courtney, and several other teams from Morgan Park and Washington Park 45’s - Currently 4 teams-Cardinals, Colts, Giants, Warriors 53’s - Projected 7 teams - Blues, Cardinals (New), Chiefs, Colts (New), Giants, Knights, Warriors 60’s - Blues, Giants, Red Angels, Yaquis, LobosDecisions Made: 1. Managers voted unanimously to use 1 umpire per game 2. Blues will play 50% night games 16. Chicagoland HOF - Rich Budziak will ChairChicagoland Roy Hobbs will have a Hall of Fame. Anyone can nominate a player, manager or umpire, but only 1 nominee per team per yearRich discussed the HOF criteria and nomination process. Rich has distributed HOF documentation to all managers.
