Obtaining your GED DIPLOMA …

10 Steps to Success

Step 1 Score 235+ on CASAS Reading test and 226+ CASAS Math test.

Step 2 Take an Official GED Practice pre test including sub tests on Language Arts Writing, Language Arts Reading, Science, Social Studies, and Math.

Step 3 After receiving the results of the Official GED Practice test, complete an Item Analysis with the instructor noting strengths and areas in need of improvement.

Step 4 Participate in interactive and individualized instructional sessions consistently.

Step 5 Work on assignments daily.

Step 6 Take an Official GED Practice progress test. Compare results with pre test. When you score an average of 50.0+ on a practice test, the instructor completes an ADULT LEARNER’S OFFICIAL GED TEST RECOMMENDATION FORM two weeks in advance of an upcoming Actual GED Exam. Recommendations can be made to take parts of the Actual GED exam if a score of 50+ is received for each sub test.

Step 7 Receive letter of recommendation to take Actual GED exam in class from instructor. GED Exam Centers: Wilkes-Barre, Hazleton, and Scranton.

Step 8 Eat healthy. Get plenty of rest. Arrive twenty minutes early at the GED Exam Center. Bring picture ID, pen & pencil, money (check, money order, or cash), and know your social security number.

Step 9 Relax. Take the Actual GED Exam. You’re prepared and will do well. If you’d like, continue to attend instructional sessions while you wait to receive GED Exam results (takes from 4 to 6 weeks).

Step 10 Inform instructor of your GED Exam results. The instructor will need a copy of the scores. Give yourself a pat on the back. Great job!
