4. Give an example of a situation in the movie that two characters perceive differently. What accounts for their different perceptions?
5. In what ways is Faye Marvin’s character a gender stereotype? Why do you think stereotypes are so common in movies?
6. Choose a character and describe their personality using the Kiersey Temperament Sorter. Give examples that support your choice of personality.
7. Freud believed therapy ended when the patient experienced a “moment of catharsis” (when they realized the unconscious basis for their problems). Describe Bob’s moment of catharsis. Do you believe he is cured?
8. When we started our Abnormal Psychology unit, I shared with you the following quote, “Sometimes as we go through life we master our experiences, sometimes we don’t.” Apply this quote to Bob and Leo. What does this quote mean in the context of the film? Have they mastered their experiences? Explain.
Our film study is scheduled for December 8 and 10. You will take the essay portion of the final on December 12. If you miss any class, it is up to you to study the film before December 12.
