Application to the Education of Students with Exceptionalities Program
(Combined BS/MS)
Faculty Program Coordinator and Advisor: Dr. Barbara Edwards, bjedwards@fsu.edu
Undergraduate Coordinator: Jeannie McDowell, jmcdowell@fsu.edu
Thank you for your interest in becoming an ESE major. Please read and complete the following application for admission to our combined BS/MS program.
To be eligible for admission to the major, you must have completed all FSU Liberal Studies requirements or have earned an AA degree (if you are a transfer applicant), have a minimum 2.5 GPA on all attempted college credits, have completed the 3-course Pre-Education sequence (EDF1005/EME2040/EDF2085[was EDG 2701]), and have completed at least 52 degree hours. You must also achieve a passing score on all sections of the General Knowledge portion of the FTCE prior to beginning your first semester in the program. There are no exceptions to these criteria.
If you plan to complete any of the admissions requirements in the semester immediately preceding your start in the major, be advised that any offer of admission extended to you will be conditional on your completion of that requirement. For example, if you’re applying for Fall and need to take EDF2085 over Summer, that’s acceptable, but you must pass the course and confirm that you completed the requirement with the Undergraduate Coordinator prior to being allowed to register.
Be advised that this Teacher Prep program has been designated Limited Access and Limited Enrollment. Admission to Florida State University does not automatically admit you to a major specialization, especially in the teaching fields. Because of the nature of the field experience component, the ESE program has limited capacity and it may not be possible to admit all who apply. This application form must be completed and submitted to the Undergraduate Coordinator in G107 Stone on or before the deadline listed below.
The ESE Program admits new juniors in the Fall semester only. Applications and supporting materials for Fall admission must be submitted to the Undergraduate Coordinator on or before March 1. Spring admission is not offered.
All materials must be attached to this application and submitted to the address below by the Fall deadline, March 1st.
