Traveling Cabaret of Irondequoit Scholarship

The Traveling Cabaret of Irondequoit will be awarding scholarships to college-bound high school seniors pursuing the arts upon graduation. The arts include, but are not limited to: music, drama, art, writing, technical and all other arts related areas. Applications will be accepted from students throughout the greater Rochester area and surrounding communities. Awards will be determined on a talent and need basis. APPLICANTS MUST BE MAJORING IN THE ARTS.

Genesee Valley Federal Credit Union will be awarding a $1,000 scholarship to a high school senior within our field of membership of Livingston or Wyoming Counties.

To be considered for the scholarship, a graduating senior must have:

• Their own GVFCU account in good standing.

• Application is completed by the graduating high school senior.

• Plan to attend an accredited college, university or community college as a full-time student 2013/2014.

AKOMA African American Women’s Gospel Choir Scholarship

AKOMA African American Women’s Gospel Choir is pleased to begin the application process for our annual Nona Patterson Chambers Scholarship. We provide scholarship assistance to deserving college-bound young African American women graduating from an accredited high school in the Greater Rochester area. These young women must be attending college in September 2013.

Enclosed is a copy of our scholarship application. Applications are available at . All parts of the application must be completed and the essay must be typewritten. All documents, the application form, essay, reference letters and the official high school transcript must arrive on or before the postmark deadline of April 26, 2013. The documents for the scholarship may be mailed separately, but they must all meet the April 26, 2013 postmark deadline.

The young ladies will also have a personal interview Saturday, May 11, 2013, with our scholarship committee as part of the application process. All young ladies with complete application packets will be notified of the time and place of the interview. Applications are available on the table outside of Mrs. Rogers’ office.

Dana Fry Scholarship Fund – Vietnam Veterans of America

The members of the Vietnam Veterans of America Chapter 193 are offering two scholarships of $500.00 each. Being a child of a veteran, or having military ambitions is helpful but not necessary.

Livingston County Education Alliance (LCEA) 2013 High School Scholarship Award

The Chamber of Commerce/LCEA (Livingston County Education Alliance) will have up to four $2,000.00 awards for graduating seniors who reside in Livingston County. Two of the scholarships,funded in part by New York State Department of Labor JSEC (Job Service Employer Committee), Genesee Valley Motors, the Livingston County Chamber Agricultural Committee and LCEA will be awarded to vocational students chosen primarily on the basis of a project or demonstration. Vocational students should contact the Genesee Valley Partnership, C.G. May Center office at (658-7900) for application and details.

Two scholarships, funded by LCEA, will be awarded to students chosen on the basis of an essay of their choice outlined on the application.

Requirements:

Essay must be a minimum of three complete, typed, double-spaced pages with one-inch margins, and written specifically for this application. Times New Roman 12pt. font must be used. All pages must be numbered, preferably in the footer, and include your name and the date.

• Selection will be based on financial need and the following: (a) essay content (including addressing all elements of the topic selected), (b) writing skills (presentation and articulation of topic, grammar, spelling and sentence structure), (c) citation of sources of quotations and facts by footnotes or a bibliography (if appropriate) and (d) adherence to the above requirements.

• Scholarships are limited to graduating high school seniors residing in Livingston County who have been accepted at and have committed to attending an institution of higher education in the fall of 2012.

• A letter of recommendation from a teacher, counselor or school administrator is required.

• Acceptance letter from the applicant’s school of choice, financial aid package (complete with estimated cost of attendance and financial aid award, if any) and commitment letter/form to attend the school with student’s signature must be submitted with the essay.

• No contact is to be made with the Livingston County Chamber of Commerce office. Team entries arenot permitted.

• The Chamber reserves the right to award fewer than two scholarships, if the committee feels there arenot two worthy applicants.

Karl Szulgit Memorial Scholarship 2013

The Karl Szulgit Memorial Scholarship will be awarding up to $5,000.00 in higher education scholarships for the 2013-2014 school year to the candidates selected by the Scholarship Committee.

Eligibility: Each applicant must have an account and be in good standing with a Federal Credit Union within the Rochester Credit Union District, be enrolled as a high school senior at the time of application, and be accepted at a College or University for the 2012-13 school year.

Selection process: Scholarship recipients will be selected based on an overall review of their academic performance, financial need, extracurricular activities, community involvement and essay response.

$1,000 Don Carpenter Memorial College Assistance Award

In order to qualify, the following criteria must be met:

1. Student must be full time 12th grade student, under the age of 21.

2. Student must be graduating from one of the following High Schools in June: Gates-Chili, Churchville-Chili, Wheatland-Chili, or Caledonia-Mumford.

3. Student must be entering college in the fall. The selected student will be required to show proof of enrollment before award is distributed.

Livingston County Chamber Makes $2,000 Available in Scholarship Program - Six $500 awards available to graduating High School Seniors

Livingston County Chamber of Commerce/LCEA (Livingston County Education Alliance) will award up to four $2,000 scholarships to graduating high school seniors attending college in 2012. The Chamber's scholarship program is now accepting applications.

Award

Established in 2006, the Harvey E. Schultz and Esther M. Schultz Health Education

Scholarship provides an educational scholarship to eligible candidates who are starting

their health related studies at an accredited post-secondary school located in Livingston,

Monroe, Ontario, Seneca, Wayne or Yates counties in New York State. At the discretion

of the March of Dimes, the scholarship may continue for the succeeding years of study

for eligible candidates.

The Genesee Valley/Finger Lakes Division of the March of Dimes will award two $1,000

scholarships for the 2010-11 academic year to students beginning their first year of postsecondary

education in a health care field (nursing, occupational therapy, speech therapy,

pathology, audiology, paramedical studies, and/or medical studies). Each scholarship is

supported through funding from the Estate of Esther M. Schultz. Funds are provided in a

lump sum and may be used for any education-related purpose (tuition, books, supplies,

etc.)

Eligibility Criteria

1. Applicant must present evidence of acceptance as a full-time student in an

accredited health-related academic program.

2. Applicant must be just beginning his or her health education studies.

3. Applicant must be enrolled in a two or four year post-secondary school located in

one of the following counties in New York State: Livingston, Monroe, Ontario,

Seneca, Wayne or Yates.

4. The scholarship review committee has the sole discretion to define a "deserving"

student. Grade point average, recommendations and the student essay will be

considered in the evaluation process for the award.

5. Applicant cannot be a previous recipient of March of Dimes scholarship funding,

unless the applicant is seeking a continuation of the scholarship award he or she

earlier received from the Harvey E. Schultz and Esther M. Schultz Health

Education Scholarship. Employees of the March of Dimes, members of its Board

of Directors, and their immediate family members are not eligible for the Harvey

E. Schultz and Esther M. Schultz Health Education Scholarship.

The PDK Educational Foundation Scholarship

The PDK Educational Foundation annually awards scholarships to prospective educators who have a connection to PDK. Eligible students must meet one of the following criteria:

• High school senior intending to major in education who is a member of a Future Educators Association® chapter in good standing

• High school senior intending to major in education who is the child or grandchild of a Kappan in good standing

• High school senior intending to major in education who has one of his/her reference letters written by a Kappan in good standing

• High school senior intending to major in education whose application is selected to represent the local PDK chapter

• An undergraduate member of an FEA or PDK chapter who is enrolled in a college education program.

The Scholarship Advisory Committee, on behalf of the Firemen’s Association of the State of New York, is happy to announce that they will be awarding ten $1,000 scholarships to high school seniors entering college. Applications are available at

Eligibility

• The applicant or the applicant’s parent/legal guardian must be a member in good standing with FASNY, and

• The applicant must be a senior in high school who is enrolled in the fall 2013 school year at an accredited two- or four-year institution of higher learning, and

• Must be a current junior firefighter, Explorer Scout or RAM in a volunteer department; a volunteer firefighter in a volunteer fire department; or a volunteer with an EMS agency; and has demonstrated both a commitment to volunteer emergency service and to the community.

• Two letters of recommendation: one from a community leader and one from a high school administrator

• A certification of acceptance from the institution of higher learning

• A one page essay written on the subject “How My Community Involvement in the Fire Service Has Affected My Life”

• If chosen for a scholarship, a headshot of the applicant will be required for potential use in FASNY promotional items.
