In order to be prepared, students need to bring the following items with them to class.1. Textbook2. Notebook3. Planner4. Pen/Pencil5. Any Assigned Homework- Each day, students will have a ‘Please Do Now’ activity when they enter class. This is a short activity that they must complete in five to ten minutes- (PDN’s generally recall information about the lesson or foreshadows ahead to new topics and material). ‘Please Do Now’ activities are part of their notebook grade. Therefore, it is important that students start on these activities immediately after they enter the classroom.- Class will be taught using a variety of instructional techniques. Each chapter in the book will be read either aloud as a class or independently- followed by a teacher led discussion. Chapter notes are created by me and are provided through PowerPoint presentation. PowerPoint presentations do require students to generate their own notes at times and answer questions relevant to the subject matter being discussed. Students are responsible for taking notes. If a student is absent, it is his/her responsibility to make up the notes that were missed. Packets of notes can be provided for any student missing material- (notes from packets still must be written in your notebook and given back to the teacher). - Homework will be assigned throughout each chapter. On the day the assignment is due, I check to see if the assignment is completed. In order to earn credit, all of the assignment must be finished. If the assignment is not completed, students earn a zero for that assignment. Students who earn a zero have until the day of the test to make up the assignment for half credit. After the test, the grade remains a zero if not handed in. -Several quizzes and tests will be given throughout the quarter. Quizzes can be either announced or unannounced. Tests will always be announced at least two days in advance- and will always have a review. Projects that are assigned throughout the year will count towards a test grade.- Notebooks are checked at the end of each quarter and count as a test grade. PDN’s, homework, class notes, and worksheets should all be kept organized. -Participation grade is based off of student behavior, preparation, and attendance. *(classroom procedures can be subject to change at teacher’s discretion)*Classroom Rules: - Respect others at all times(this includes the teacher, each other, substitute/visitor, and your classroom)- Raise your hand. (one person talks at a time while others are listening)- Always come prepared to class(Be Ready To Learn!)- Try your bestOther Expectations:- Students are expected to come to class on time(students should be in their seats and working on the PDN by the time the bell rings.)-Students late to class must get a pass from the office-Students must be quiet leaving and entering the school building(students are expected to walk quietly to the trailer. Absolutely NO RUNNING. Misbehavior coming to and from the school building will automatically be brought to the principal’s attention.)- Students are expected to use restrooms before or after class(if it is an emergency and students need to use the restroom during class- he/she must sign out and take the door pass. Only one student is allowed out of class at a time.)-Students are expected to not use any electronic devices during class(this includes but is not limited to cell phones.) ................
