Approval and deletion of ITU-T Recommendations

A.1 By TSB AAP-71 of 16 February 2004 it was announced that the following ITU-T Recommendations were approved, in accordance with the procedures outlined in ITU-T Recommendation A.8:

– ITU-T Recommendation G.783 (06/02/2004): Characteristics of synchronous digital hierarchy (SDH) equipment functional blocks

– ITU-T Recommendation G.806 (06/02/2004): Characteristics of transport equipment – Description methodology and generic functionality

– ITU-T Recommendation G.7042/Y.1305 (06/02/2004): Link capacity adjustment scheme (LCAS) for virtual concatenated signals

– ITU-T Recommendation L.54 (06/02/2004): Splice closures for marinized terrestrial cables (MTC)

– ITU-T Recommendation Q.811 (13/02/2004): Lower layer protocol profiles for the Q and X interfaces

– ITU-T Recommendation Q.812 (13/02/2004): Upper layer protocol profiles for the Q and X interfaces

A. 2 By TSB Circular 216 of 16 February 2004, it was announced that the following ITU-T Recommendation was deleted, in accordance with the procedures outlined in ITU-T Recommendation A.8 § 8.2, of the WTSA (Montreal, 2000):

– ITU-T Recommendation G.167 (12/03/1993): Acoustic echo controllers

The conditions governing the deletion of this ITU-T Recommendation were met and 18 Member States and 102 Sector Members participating in the meeting of Study Group 15 (Geneva, from 21 to 31 October 2003) proposed to delete this ITU-T Recommendation. 19 Administrations of Member States responded to the consultation on 14 February 2004, and no objection to this deletion was received.

A. 3 By TSB Circular 219 of 16 February 2004, it was announced that the following ITU-T Recommendations were deleted, in accordance with the procedures outlined in ITU-T Recommendation A.8 § 8.2, of the WTSA (Montreal, 2000):

– ITU-T Recommendation P.38 (12/03/1993): Transmission characteristics of operator telephone systems (OTS)

– ITU-T Recommendation P.84 (12/03/1993): Subjective listening test method for evaluating digital circuit multiplication and packetized voice systems

The conditions governing the deletion of these ITU-T Recommendations were met and 12 Member States and 27 Sector Members participating in the meeting of Study Group 12 (Geneva, from 22 to 30 September 2003) proposed to delete these ITU-T Recommendations. 17 Administrations of Member States responded to the consultation on 13 February 2004, and no objection to this deletion was received.

Maritime Mobile Service

Barbados

Communication of 25.II.2004:

Cable & Wireless (Barbados) Limited announces that, as from 25 February 2004, the Barbados Defence Force will assume responsibility for the Non-commercial Maritime Radio Emergency Telephone Service performed by the coast station Barbados Radio (8PO) and the monitoring of the associated VHF channels 6, 12, 16, 26, 27 and 28.

Cable & Wireless will continue to have responsibility for 8PO’s commercial data service and associated frequencies under their existing international licence arrangement with the government of Barbados.

United Kingdom

Communication of 18.II.2004:

Jersey Airport Communications Services announces that, as a consequence of the rapid decline in the requirement for the link call service through Jersey Radio, the service provided to ships through accounting authorities will be terminated with effect from 1st June 2004. The service will be retained for vessels prepared to pay by charge card and for emergency purposes.
