Special Restrictions

NOTE: Local ordinances or State rules may prohibit or restrict airboat usage, engine

horsepower, and impose noise restrictions on some waterbodies. Permittees should check with local authorities for specifics. Area boundaries will be described on issued permits and descriptions can be found on at .

1. The sale of alligator meat taken from these areas may be prohibited. 2. Open days may be limited on these harvest units and may exclude the

September duck season. 3. Entry and exit points may be restricted to specified locations. 4. The hunts on harvest units 406, 408, 413, 414 and 416 are limited to Friday

and Saturday nights only. Harvest period 1 includes the first and third weekends during the season. Harvest period 2 includes the second and fourth weekends. Only non-motorized boats are allowed. 5. The hunts on harvest unit 401 are limited to Friday and Saturday nights only. No mudboats are allowed. See the Loxahatchee NWR hunt brochure for information on additional restrictions. Airboats are allowed with a $100 permit which is available from the refuge.

County-wide Alligator Harvest Units

Persons permitted to take alligators in county-wide harvest units will be allowed to take two alligators from any area that they could legally access in the specified county, including public and private lands and waters, but excluding specific water bodies established as alligator management units (listed on Page 1), private wetlands permitted for alligator management, and other protected public properties (exclusions are detailed below). Application and permit issuance procedures and participation requirements for the county-wide harvest units are the same as for other harvest units. It is strongly recommended that you know specific locations where you can legally harvest alligators in a county prior to applying for a county-wide permit.
