7 LEVELS

OF PROFICIENCY

1 FOUNDATIONS Beginner: Levels 100, 200

2 Intermediate: Levels 300, 400

3 In Levels 100-400, students develop the basic foundations for communicating in English. Students

4 take core courses in speaking/listening, reading,

writing, and grammar. The emphasis at these levels

is communicative competence in real life situations.

5 ACADEMIC TRACK High Intermediate: Level 500

6 Advanced: Levels 600, 700

7 In Levels 500-700, students learn the knowledge, strategies, and skills needed to be successful in a U.S. university setting. Students take courses in reading, writing, grammar, and speaking/listening.

5 SPECIFIC PURPOSES TRACK High Intermediate: Level 500

6 Advanced: Levels 600, 700

7 In Levels 500-700, students who do not want to pursue the Academic Track can continue to improve their communication skills in English through Specific Purposes classes. The Specific Purposes Track offers classes such as improvisation speaking, business case analysis, cross-cultural communication, service learning, and blogging. Students who have completed the Academic Track but still would like to continue working on their communication skills in English will find the Specific Purposes courses beneficial as well.

8-WEEK INTENSIVE ENGLISH PROGRAM

? Elective courses available in TOEFL, SAT, GRE, and GMAT preparation

HOW TO APPLY

To apply for the intensive English program, prospective students should submit the following documents: 1. Completed application form 2. Copy of passport information page 3. Bank statement showing the minimum required amount for tuition and fees

(for F-1 students only) 4. Payment of the $100 application fee and $50 international mailing fee

(required if your acceptance documents need to be mailed internationally)

MEDICAL REQUIREMENTS

All students at Georgia Tech are required to meet certain medical requirements. Details on these requirements can be found online at health.gatech.edu. We strongly urge you to complete these medical requirements in your country as part of your application. Medical services can be very expensive in the United States.
