Germany and USSR sign a nonaggression pact. (Frees Hitler to attack Poland)

Britain and France announce that if Germany invades Poland, they will come to Poland's aid. Britain and France start negotiations with USSR to help.

Hitler demands Danzig, Poland be returned to Germany. He wanted access to East Prussia (German Territory) so much for appeasement

Munich Conference: Britain and France gave in to Hitler's demands of taking part of Czechoslovakia (APPEASEMENT: I'll give you this if you stop)

Britain and France threatened to fight if Germany attacks Czechoslovakia

Anschluss: Hitler went into Austria and announced a unification of Austria and Germany…..no resistance (parade). 100,000 jews gathered up immediately.

Threatened to invade Austria: Wanted Austrian Nazis given important gov jobs.

(Austria did but tried to get a vote from the Austrian people)

Hitler calls for all German speaking people to unify (defying Treaty of Versailles)
