1. Insert the AcuCorp (Extend) CD or double click on the setup.exe file from your installation files location. You should be presented with this screen:

2. Click Next until you get to this screen: [pic]

3. Make sure only the “AcuXDBC Data Interface for Windows” option is checked and click Next to get to this screen:

4. Make sure “Install License Activator” and “Launch License Activator” are both checked and click next to get to this screen: [pic]

5. Click Install. The software will install and then the license activator will pop up: [pic]

6. Enter you license code and key in this screen and click Finish. You have now installed the AcuXDBC software. Now we must configure it to work with your system.

7. Right click on My Computer and choose properties (Some PCs require you to click on the Start button to access My Computer). Windows Vista machines sometimes just call this “Computer” instead of My Computer.

9. Click on the Advanced System Settings option on the left.

10. Versions of Windows prior to Vista will get this screen: [pic]

11. Click on the “Advanced” tab at the top.

12. Click on the Environment Variables button at the bottom and you will get this screen: [pic]

13. Click on the “New…” button in the top section (in the User Variables section) to get this screen: [pic]

14. In the variable name field, put “GENESIS_HOME”. In the variable value field, put “H:\answers\xdbc”. If your PC uses a drive letter other than H: to access ANSWERS, replace the H: with the appropriate drive letter. Click OK on the all the screens until you get back to your desktop.

15. Now click on Start ( Control Panel to go to your PC’s control Panel. Then double click on Administrative Tools. Then double click on Data Sources (ODBC) to open the Data Source Administrator:

16. Click the “Add…” button to get this screen: [pic]

17. Make sure you highlight “Acucorp AcuXDBC” and click Finish. You will get this screen: [pic]

18. In the Data Source Name, put ANSWERS Data and then put the same thing for the Description. Make sure the configuration file says “acuxdbc.cfg” (this should already be filled in). Click OK and then Click OK again to get back to the Control Panel.

19. You should be finished at this point and the XDBC should now interface with the ANSWERS Software. Some companies might have their ANSWERS System Catalog and Data in a different place other than H:\datafiles and H:\answers\xdbc. These users should edit the paths in the H:\answers\xdbc\acuxdbc.cfg file to point to the correct directories. You can edit this file with any standard text editor such as NotePad or WordPad.

Trouble-shooting know problems:

• The environment variable “GENESIS_HOME” does not always work and you have to copy the acuxdbc.cfg or acuxdbcs.cfg file from the answers(xdbc folder into the AcuCorp/AcuCbl/AcuGT folder on the local P/C.

• AcuXDBC apparently does not allow for the user’s password to contain the “@” symbol. This will result in an “Invalid Syntax: uid/pwd/connect file” error message.
