Jackie; Miss Boss Lady (dubbed by Will) Where There's a Will, There's a Way (Part 1) You've Got to Be a Football Hero Jacqueline "Jackie" Ames is a recurring character in the fourth season of the 90s hit TV sitcom The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air. She is one of Will Smith's childhood friends and past girlfriends from West Philadelphia, who moves out west to Bel-Air, California after accepting a basketball scholarship from the University of California, Los Angeles. Jackie is portrayed by renowned model and TV personality, Tyra banks. Background As revealed in the second part of the fourth season premiere "Where There's A Will, There's A Way", Jackie was born and raised in West Philadelphia, in the same neighborhood Will was brought up in. She leaves West Philadelphia and moves to Bel-Air after accepting a basketball scholarship offered to her by UCLA, which, coincidentally, is also Will's college of choice. She takes a job as store manager for the campus convenience store, The Peacock Stop, and hires Will as one of her employees when one of her workers quits and conveniently leaves a vacant position for the desperate Will. Because the two of them grew up together, Will and Jackie are often shown to have been extremely close and know each other very well. Will recalls in one episode that Jackie was a terrific runner, as she was able to beat anyone on the playground in a foot race when they were younger. Jackie also seems to have learned to play basketball from Will, as she mentions in the same episode that Will was the one who taught her how to do a proper jump shot. Although Jackie claims that she and Will were "just friends", Will revokes this statement by reminding her of their little tryst after one of their friends' parties, implying that they were romantically involved once back in Philly. They seemed to have lost touch with each other after Will left for Bel-Air, which Jackie was initially upset about and caused her to slap Will in the face when they encountered each other for the first time in three years after Will's departure from Philly. She eventually forgives him when he tells her that the reason he didn't call was because he missed her too much, and they resume their friendship after their reconciliation. 27 years after Tyra Banks starred opposite Will Smith on The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air, the `90s icons reunited on Will's Snapchat show, Will From Home, to relive one of their more memorable scenes together. "This next piece is one of my favorite moments," said Will, 51, while in a video chat with Tyra, 46. As they watched the scene in which Jackie Ames (Tyra) and Will had their famous blow-out, the Next Top Model star recited every word. Nearly three decades later, and she remembered it as if it were yesterday. Watching Tyra and Will talk, it's hard to think that it's been so long since they worked together, since neither seemed to have aged a day. However, Tyra was shocked when remembering just how young she was. "I was 19, Will," she said, before revealing that her Fresh Prince role was her first acting gig ever. "Cause I had an acting agent even though I hadn't acted yet. And he was like, `You gotta go and do this audition for The Fresh Prince Of Bel-Air. You're going to be auditioning to play Will Smith's ex-girlfriend from Philly." Needless to say, she got the part, and wound up portrayed Jackie Ames on eight episodes in 1993. "When I auditioned for Fresh Prince, they said [Jackie] was a basketball player, an ex-girlfriend of Will Smith's characters, so I went in totally [dressed like a] baller," she told Complex in March. "Like, big t-shirt, cut-off shorts and sweats or somethin', and I walked into the audition room and every single actress had on a tight black dress and heels. And I was like, `I made a mistake' and I almost wanted to go home. I went through it anyway, and got the part." Sean Mills, head of Original Content for Snapchat, said the show was created from discussions between Will's company, Westbrook Media, and Snapchat over the constraints of the global shutdown. "Will was feeling a lot of pent up creative energy and was excited to do something with it in a new and different way," said Mills. "The kinds of things that the [Snachat] community wants are things that are positive, that feel empowering. It's not just about escapism but it's about actually what is the good that can come of a challenging moment in time. Will From Home fits perfectly with that."
