Reaching more than 4,700 healthcare professionals (HCP), the CARES Initiative’s educational activities successfully increased knowledge of and competence with the latest, evidence-based treatment guidelines and recommendations for Diabetes patients.Med Learning Group received the award on Friday, May 18, 2018 during the 2018 GAME annual conference in Jersey City, New Jersey. Now in its second year, the Global CME Impact Award recognizes excellence, influence, and achievements by organizations and individuals implementing impactful and innovative CME/Continuing Education (CE) activities that transform healthcare for the greater good.A panel of six CME / CE professionals selected by GAME and the Global Education Group served on the judging committee to score each entry in six main categories: InnovationAdult Teaching MethodologiesCollaborationPatient EngagementEducational ImpactSustainability“Med Learning Group is honored to receive this prestigious award,” Vice President of Accreditation and Outcomes at Med Learning Group Lauren Welch said. “The CARES Initiative truly demonstrates the pivotal role CME can play in terms of improved coordination and HCP-patient collaboration in care, through partnerships and the use of learning tools that carry the education into the practice setting.” -more-The CARES Initiative includes: The CARES website () with HCP and patient education tools; A National Summit Series conducted in partnership with the American Diabetes Association (ADA) and the Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA), a division of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services; A Grand Rounds Series with chart audits to measure change in care delivery; and, In partnership with Pack Health, the provision of health advisors to patients with Diabetes, resulting in a direct impact on patient outcomes.? The participation of the ADA resulted in more partnerships between local chapters and practicing physicians. Chart audit results indicate a successful conversion of knowledge gains into practice. Likewise, 115 patients?worked with a Pack Health's health advisors for 12 weeks, with significant improvements in health measures, such as lower average A1C (blood glucose) levels and decreased average weight. Patients also engaged more in their care, going for more eye and foot exams and taking preventative steps to improve their health outcomes.? The CARES Initiative is supported by unrestricted educational grants from Lilly, Salix Pharmaceuticals, Inc., Boehringer Ingelheim Pharmaceuticals, Inc., and Lilly USA, LLC.
