ResourcesThe talking points below are to give you a basic structure on which to build your script for region conferences. As part of educating members about how contributions are used by SIA, it is helpful to refer to your Live Your Dream Award recipient and her story as well as the stories of the 2018 federation award recipients. You can use these talking points to help build your presentations for your region’s conference. They provide a guideline as to how to talk about the importance of fundraising and how contributions are used as well as ideas for recognizing donors in your region.B. How Contributions Are UsedSIA recognizes members are most closely connected to their club and, therefore, generously support club projects that include Live Your Dream Awards and Dream It! Be It! The ability of the club to carry out the Dream Programs is dependent on the program resources SIA provides. Those resources are made possible by contributions from clubs and members who embrace our global efforts. Their support for our Dream Programs helps grow our global impact and reach more women and girls. Dues pay for necessary and important functions of maintaining our global organization — dues do not provide any funding to our global Dream Programs. In fact, not only do dues not pay for our Dream Programs, but also contributions do not fully pay for our Dream programs! For this reason, we appeal to our members and clubs to fund our Dream Programs through our various ways to give—individual gifts, including monthly giving, which is recognized in the Laurel Society; future or planned gifts, recognized in the Laurel Legacy; and Club Giving (at least 10 percent of funds raised locally). Soroptimist is and has been accredited under the Standards for Excellence of Nonprofit Organizations since 2004. We pay for an independent audit to be performed each year, and the Certified Public Accounting firm of Clifton Larson Allen LLP compared SIA’s program efficiency to other similar sized organizations. I am proud to report that SIA continues to rank above industry averages for program efficiency for how well we as a nonprofit utilize funds for our mission. Rest assured our contributions to SIA are working harder and smarter, and are helping more women and girls improve their lives in real and measurable ways.C. Club Giving Club Giving provides clubs the opportunity to support our life-changing global Dream Programs that empower women and girls around the world by providing resources to attain social and economic empowerment to reach their dreams. It is your Club Giving contributions that allow us to deliver on the international promise of our organization. You are not being asked to raise more money. You are being asked to allocate at least 10% of the funds raised locally for Club Giving to support Soroptimist’s global programs that empower women and girls around the world. By expanding the funding for our programs, we can increase our collective impact and grow the number of recipients we are able to help.If each of our Soroptimist clubs contribute at least 10% of the funds raised locally in the name of Soroptimist to support our global Dream Programs, we would be able to raise almost $1 million to support our programs. Can you imagine the impact we could make in the lives of women and girls across the world? If your club hasn’t yet made its Club Giving contribution, please send it to headquarters so it is received no later than May 31 in order to receive recognition for your club this year. I want to take a moment to thank all the generous clubs that have given to Club Giving so far this year:xx clubs supported federation programs at the Dreamers level with a gift of $500 to $999xx clubs are making a collective impact with a gift of 1,000 to $2,499 at the Dream Believers levelxx clubs made a generous commitment of $2,500 to $4,999 at the Dream Builders levelxx clubs are empowering women and girls with a gift of $5,000 to $9,999 at the Dream Chasers levelxx clubs are Dream Catchers – champions of the Soroptimist mission with a gift of at least $10,000As you begin to plan for your next club year, be sure to budget your club giving contribution for a minimum of 10% of the funds you raise in the name of Soroptimist. Your contribution means that more women and girls will be able to receive assistance and support through SIA programs. D. Founders PenniesFounders Pennies are a traditional part of Soroptimist club giving. Clubs contribute $5.94 per member this year. These pennies amount to almost $200,000 for Soroptimist programs! Contributing Founders Pennies is the first step a club can take to provide support for our federation’s programs. So far, ## clubs of the ### clubs in our region have contributed their Founders Pennies. Let’s give a huge round of applause to the clubs who gave to Founders Pennies and to YOU for raising those Pennies! Our goal is to have ALL clubs in our region contribute to Founders Pennies. So if your club hasn’t done so yet, SEND IN YOUR PENNIES so they arrive at headquarters before May 31 for recognition this year! You still have time!E. Laurel SocietyFirst, let me say how grateful we are for the financial support we receive from members and clubs to help fund our life-changing programs. Without you, many women would not be receiving the help they need. And within Soroptimist, there are extraordinary members whose contributions deserve special acknowledgement. For this reason, the Laurel Society was created. Induction into the Laurel Society is a prestigious way for Soroptimist to recognize those individuals who give generously to ensure the success of federation programs.Since 1994, Laurel Society members have raised $10 million for Soroptimist programs that help women and girls live their dreams. In <name> region, there are more than ### Laurel Society members. (omit if the region has no Inner Circle members) We have ## women who have each given more than $25,000 through the Laurel Society, making them members of the elite Inner Circle. Inner Circle members believe deeply in the Soroptimist mission and have made a generous financial commitment to ensure that your good work continues to improve the lives of women and girls in local communities and throughout the world. We’d also like to acknowledge other levels of the Laurel Society. (omit if the region has no Ambassador members) Members that have given $10,000 or more have the distinction of being Soroptimist Ambassadors. They live the mission and their financial support guarantees that Soroptimist programs will continue to grow. ## have a pearl in their Laurel Society pin. There are ## members of the Diplomat level ($5,000-9,999). There are ### Laurel Society members who are the Envoy level ($2,500-$4,999). Finally, there are more than ### Attaché level members who have contributed at least $1,000 to support SIA programs. Let’s give all of them a round of applause for their extraordinary commitment!SIA is very grateful to all the Laurel Society members. It is because of their generosity and commitment to Soroptimist that we are able to offer such outstanding programs to women and girls in our 21 countries and territories. F. Soroptimist Stargazers - Monthly GivingLaurel Society membership is easily attainable by enrolling in monthly giving. It is a way for you to schedule your donations in a way that fits your budget and allows SIA to ensure continued funding for federation programs. And best of all, the contributions add up and in no time you have become a member of the Laurel Society! It’s just that easy! If you enroll today with a monthly gift of $50 or more, you will receive this beautiful pin as a thank you from Soroptimist! OR if you enroll at $20 or more, you will receive a Soroptimist reusable tote bag! See <name> at <location> who will sign you up. If you prefer to enroll at a later date, it’s easy to enroll online at SIA’s website, but the gift is only available if you enroll at the conference.G. Laurel LegacyAnother way that members can support Soroptimist programs is through a future gift such as a bequest, annuity or other planned gift. Members who notify SIA headquarters they have arranged for such a gift become a part of the esteemed Laurel Legacy. The Laurel Legacy is SIA’s way of recognizing and honoring the generosity of those whose future gifts preserve the strength of the organization, and help women and girls to live their dreams for years to come. Arranging a future gift to Soroptimist International of the Americas is an excellent way to guarantee Soroptimist programs will continue to increase our impact to the women and girls who benefit from our life-changing programs. All you have to do is complete the enrollment form; you do not have to disclose the gift or provide a copy of your will. You will receive a pin as a token of appreciation and be listed with those members who plan to ensure that the Soroptimist mission will continue on.Would our Laurel Legacy members please stand and be recognized? We are so thankful for your commitment to the Soroptimist mission. ................
