GOD PROJECT
Summary of Directions: You will be randomly assigned to one of four polytheistic civilizations: Greece, Scandinavia (Norse), India, and Egypt. You will be assigned a God or Goddess from a list of deities worshipped by your civilization in order to create a Mythological God card. After creating your card and presenting the information about your card, the deities of your civilization will compete in the “Clash of the Deities” game. You will adhere to the following guidelines:

God Card Extra Credit Due: Mon. 12/10 (A) – Tues. 12/11 (B)

Clash of Deities Game: Will vary per class … approximate dates Dec. 17 - 21
Part I – Assignment of Civilizations.
You will be randomly assigned to one of the four civilizations. You will be allowed to select from a list of Gods/Goddesses from your assigned civilizations according to your grade from the previous nine weeks. Students representing the same civilization will work together as a group to share ideas and help with artistic creation. However, each member will still be responsible for creating their own particular God Card.
Part II – God Questionnaire (3 grades).
Research you God and answer the questions regarding his/her background. (See attached sheet.) Find and save several images or pictures of your God for Part III.
Part III - CREATING GOD CARD. (5 grades*)
A. Background Color of the Card – Construction Paper 8x11
Construction Paper - For Greek, use Blue; For Norse, use Red; For Egyptian, use Orange; For Indian, use Green.
Front of Card- (3 grades*)
*Generous extra credit will be awarded for high quality original art work.
Name of God on Top of Card (Typed BOLD/FONT 48).
Bottom Right Corner– Student Information (Font – 22) Typed out: Name, period, and teacher’s name.
Images of deity need to be neatly enlarged to cover at least 65% of the card’s front and be centered properly. The image can either be printed or an artistic rendition. Students who create their own artwork will be handsomely rewarded. The more effort and care you put in, the better your grade.
Back of Card- Requirements (2 grades) This information should mirror the questionnaire information, but should be divided into five sections:
a) Upper Left Quadrant – Background Facts; Origin of Myth; Interactions with humans, Sacrificial requirements
b) Upper Right Quadrant – Lineage (Family Tree – Parents and Offspring) Information and Comparable Gods from each of the other three civilizations;
c) “DID YOU KNOW?” (MIDDLE OF CARD) Three interesting tidbits of information not mentioned in the other sections.
d) Lower Left Quadrant – Powers/ Strengths. List only. Do not describe.
e) Lower Right Quadrant – Weaknesses/Liabilities. List only. Do not describe.
Part IV – Oral Presentations – (2 grades)
All projects must be presented orally to be graded. See attached oral presentation guidelines. Audience members must submit oral presentation evaluations.
Part V – The Clash of the Deities Game – (3 grades)
You will be graded for participation, teamwork, respect for others, and attention to the procedures.
Date and explanation of the rules / procedures will be forthcoming. Two extra credit grades will be given to the winning civilization.
