Tell the story. Explain, "Just like those boys and girls and adults wanted to praise and thank Jesus, we can too." Talk about ways we can sing, pray and worship Jesus. Share and explain the verse and say a prayer of praise and thankfulness.

As Jesus and His helpers traveled along the road to Jerusalem, a very large crowd of people began to follow. There were moms, dads, boys, girls, grandmothers and grandfathers all along the street. Activity Suggestion

Have a Parade Talk about parades that your preschooler may have seen either live or on TV. Talk about how excited and happy people are. On this special day in Jesus' life as he came into town it was like a parade and everyone was excited to see Him. Let's make our own parade. Get all the family to line up, even the pets. Everyone can carry something to wave in the air like the palm leaves. Everyone can walk through the whole house 3 times. While you walk wave and say or sing "Hosanna to the King!"

After your parade let your preschooler draw what he or she thinks that special day would have looked like when Jesus came into town.
