How To Spot The Devil In Church

Psalm 127:1; James 4:7

127 Except the Lord build the house, they labour in vain that build it: except the Lord keep the city, the watchman waketh but in vain.7 Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.

T

here is something very interesting when it come to the names of our family tree. Seldom will you find parents who will name their children Herod, Jezebel, Goliath, Annas’, Caiaphas, Pilate, Judas, Rehab, Pharaoh, and Lucifer. In fact, Lucifer has more names in the bible than any other man, other than God and Jesus. These names in which Lucifer carries and his devils can also be spotted throughout the bible as:

Abaddon, Apollyon, Accuser of the brethren, Adversary, Angel of light, Anointed cherub, Beelzebub, Belial, Corrupter of minds, Devil, Dragon, Enemy, God of this world, King, Liar, Lucifer, Murderer, Oppressor, Prince of the air, Prince of darkness, Prince of this world, Roaring Lion, Satan, Serpent, Tempter, Thief, and the Wicked one.

He is not only present in our schools, homes, neighborhoods, relationships, and workplaces. The Devil is also present in the church. So, my aim today is to train your spiritual eyes on, "How to Spot the Devil in Church."

I. The Devil Functions Are Out Of Conduct:

When Jesus left the Sea of Galilee a man with legions of unclean spirits ran and met up with Jesus. This man made his bed in the graveyard of Gadarenes. This man was one that no man could tame. He disturbed the peace day and night and cut himself with stones (Mark 5). He was out of conduct.

How to Spot the Devil in Church

• He dresses up like you and I and is unlike dry weather Christians. And he’ll show up for every service on time. Now there was a day when the sons of God came to present themselves before the LORD, and Satan came also among them. (Job 1:6)

• He sows discord among the brethren. Satan seeks us out as the lion who seeks the weak prey. His prey is Christians, specifically those who are not mature and not always faithful. Christian maturity requires us to submit and to be humble. The result is respect, cooperation, unity, community, and the power of His Fruit at work. This is our armor and defense against Spiritual Warfare. But if we do not submit, and have no regard for unity, or have no respect for authority, our sinful nature will win out. The result will be Satan’s influence causing us to succumb to quarrels (because of pride), discord, and shame.

• David said, “I was glad when they said unto me; Let us go into the house of the Lord.” You don’t come to Church to get the Holy Ghost (hag’-ee-os) if you are a saint you should already have him with you before you arrive to service. David didn’t say, I was glad when they said let us go to the “Wrestling Match” or the “Jerry Springer Show”. The only way Satan can get into the church is someone has to bring him in. But, Jesus is in the business of revealing and suspending whatever hinders the church.
