The Holy Spirit #8

Your (God-ordained) Calling.

“If God called us to a task, He will also then qualify (equip) us for the job.”

by Ian September

Key Scriptures: Ps 139:16; Hos 4:6; Rom 11:29

I would like to start off tonight, by saying that each one of us (nobody is excluded) has a spiritual mission or calling in life that is uniquely yours!

I would also like to say that none of us or anybody on this earth is an “accident” or here by “mistake!”

Maybe your birth was unplanned, by your natural parents, but God says in His word (Ps 139:16) “I knew about you, even before you were born!”

(Not a “glipsie”)

Tonight I can safely say church that every individual has a God-ordained destiny and calling (roeping) on their lives… and if you do not discover what your destiny is you will end up doing things that will either make you very unhappy or frustrated, or completely bored.

So what exactly is God’s calling for my life? Why was I born? What is my purpose on earth?

How many people wonder about and seek for this answer all their lives, yet live unfulfilled lives, as they never live out their full potential and calling that God has ordained for them, even before the beginning of time?

Wouldn’t it be sad or even devastating to come to your lives end, only to find that you have missed your purpose and destiny completely? That you never lived out the calling that is on your life? …Imagine that church!...

That is why it is important (as a vital necessity) to prayerfully seek God (and fast if you must) and ask God to reveal His calling for you, to you and to give you the faith and courage to follow Him where-ever He may lead you.

For it is important that you have a clear vision of the calling on your life, church! (Don’t be confused about it, for God is not!)

That moment that you realize what your purpose and calling is; act upon it!

Why?? For one of the most deepest fulfillments in life is to know that you are living out your calling, each and every day. Amen?!

It is however sad, but true that many Christians have little or no idea of who they are in Christ or the calling on their lives.

Hosea 4:6 (NIV) - My people are destroyed from lack of knowledge. “Because you have rejected knowledge, I also reject you as my priests; because you have ignored the law of your God, I also will ignore you children

Please realize church, that the enemy of your soul, Satan will target immature believers (who lack knowledge) because if he can keep them ignorant as to who and what they are in Christ, he will prevent them from living out the calling on their lives! True!

It is also sad, but true that many believers live far below their potential, because they have never discovered the specific calling on their lives.

That is why it is important to discover your calling, church! To accomplish what God has called you to do is one of the most pleasant things you can ever experience or achieve!

This is what you have been born to do; not conforming to the worlds standard for your life, but as you submit to God and get into His Word, you will be transformed by the constant renewing of your mind, to God’s perspective for your life that will enable you to fulfill you calling! Amen?

So what is the definition of God’s calling, church?

Romans 11:29 (NIV) - For God’s gifts and his call are irrevocable

• A calling is God’s personal invitation to an individual to carry out the unique tasks (more than one) He has for you… it is the reason why you were born in this time and season and not 500 years ago!

• A calling is also a personal invitation to you to work on His agenda, using the gifts and talents He blessed you with! Your gift and talents are uniquely yours just as your fingerprints, DNA and the iris of your eye!

God has created you to be uniquely you, as no one else can do what God has ordained for you to accomplish. (People may imitate you, try to duplicate and clone you, but there can only be ONE you!)

Can I just say that; when you understand your calling in life and function in your gifting you will make a difference where-ever you go!

You will experience blessings in our life and be a blessing to many others too. Amen?

So the question is: What is preventing you from fulfilling your God-ordained calling?

(To name a few)

1. Lack of knowledge: Ignorance to the Word (Hosea 4:6). Who are you in Christ?

2. Pride and arrogance: Will get you no-where for God opposes the pride.

3. Compromise: (and complacency) Conforming to the superficial standard or pattern of the world (Romans 12:2 - Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will.)

4. Fear: (Of man / the unknown) God didn’t give us a spirit of fear..

2 Timothy 1:7 - For the Spirit God gave us does not make us timid, but gives us power, love and self-discipline.

5. Sin: Biggest and most dangerous obstacle that will prevent you from living out your God-given calling!

Sin that has not been dealt with (un-confessed sin) or disobedience to the Word, can and will open doors through which Satan can enter and get a foothold in your life.

It is however only through true sorrowful repentance and holy living that we can close that door, which gave the enemy legal access into our lives!

Conclude: It will be a good idea even before communion to prayerfully examine our hearts to ensure that there is nothing in the way of living out the God-ordained calling for my life! Amen!
