The OLA Quest for Gold Selection Committee will then assess these athletes for performance results against the Ministry of Heritage, Sport, Tourism and Culture Industries’ expectation that each nominated athlete is a next-generation Senior National Team member within the next 1–4 years. A total number of 18 athletes (9 male athletes and 9 female athletes) will be selected based on these criteria; however, the OLA is not obligated to assign all Ontario cards if the Quest for Gold Selection Committee determines that an insufficient number of athletes demonstrate potential to be selected for a National Team in the near futureAthletes who receive funding that covers the full amount of their living expenses and training costs or who have received funding in excess of normal living and training costs through exercising their skills as a professional or semi-professional athlete, or have these costs covered by virtue of involvement on a team through a formal agreement, within the same sport as the one for which they wish to receive OAAP funding, will not be eligible for OAAP support.
