Keystone Resort itself is rated as one of the best resorts in America by both Golf Magazine and Golf Digest. Here are just a few of the accolades & endorsements by prominent national & state golf publications for Keystone Resort and/or its individual courses, many of them for several years running:By both Golf Digest Woman and Golf for Women magazines: ‘America’s Top 50 Courses for Women’ (for The River Course); All by Avid Golfer magazine for 2013: ‘Best Conditions (Resort)’ for Keystone Resort; ‘Best Mountain Course’ (for The River Course); ‘Best On-Course Views’ (for The River Course), and ‘Best Resort Courses’ (for both Keystone Ranch and The River Course, in 2011).By Golf Digest: ‘America’s Top 75 Golf Resorts — 4 Stars Ranking’ (for both Keystone Ranch and The River Course);“Outstanding: Plan your vacation around it…”;Both by Golf Magazine: “America’s Best Golf Resorts (Silver Medalist)’; and ‘Premier Resorts — Best Golf & Best Lodging in the Rocky Mountains.center100965Designer: Robert Trent Jones, Jr.Specifications: Par 72; 7,090 yards and 141 slope from back tees (5,582 yards and 133 slope from the forward tees).Keystone Ranch GC: The front nine, modeled after the links style of a legendary Scottish course, winds through undulating sage meadows. The back nine’s traditional mountain-valley layout meanders around lodgepole pines then crosses — if you’re brave enough to try it — or goes around a 9-acre lake for a dramatic finish, all with awe-inspiring views of Quandary Peak (elev. 14,285 feet).Keystone Ranch Restaurant, in the rustic yet elegant original 1930s ranch homestead, is recognized as a AAA Four Diamond? restaurant, and as one of the “Best Restaurant in Colorado” by prestigious Zagat Survey?.Address: 1239 Keystone Ranch RoadKeystone, CO 80435Telephone: (970) 496-4250(ASGA-Denver’s 2015 MCE)952553975Designer: Hurdzan/Fry.Specifications: Par 71; 6,886 yards and 137 slope from back tees (4,762 yards & 126 slope from forward tees). The River Course at Keystone: Elevate your game (quite literally) by taking on Keystone’s dramatic River Course: Impressive elevation changes, water hazards, variable bunkers, and five sets of tees on every hole, are all guaranteed to test your game! The front nine slithers along & across the Snake River, then the back nine slips into fragrant lodgepole pine forests. The 16th hole has 194-foot elevation drop from tee box to green; the 18th hole tee box (pictured at right) offers unparalleled panoramic views as Buffalo Mountain (elev. 13,000’+) guards sentry over Lake Dillon.Lunch tip: Grab one of their knee-buckling Chicken Cordon Bleu sandwiches at the turn. It wins numerous awards and garners praise by respected national and state golf publications (among many others): Golf Digest consistently includes it on its “Best Places to Play” list, and Avid Golfer has repeatedly ranked it as “#1 Most Scenic Golf Course, Public or Resort.”Nestled within Roxborough State Park, majestic “flatirons” geological formations make Arrowhead one of America’s most-photographed golf courses. Abundant and varied wildlife frequent its fairways. It offers extreme elevation changes, dramatic vistas and thousands of feet of ancient red sandstones (Golf tip: You’ll be tempted to try hitting your driver tee shot over them… but the smart play is to lay up and go around them!), all of which makes for a truly unforgettable mountain golf experience.Address: 10850 W. Elevated tees guarantee gravity-defying drives in the rarefied air; yet at 6,836 yards in length, beginners won’t be intimidated and experienced golfers will be well-challenged.The front nine meanders through the valley floor, crossing the scenic Eagle River several times. After this pleasant tune-up, you’re ready to tackle the thrilling back nine that winds up the mountainside through majestic stands of aspen, lodgepole pine and fir trees, for a truly unique and varied mountain golf experience. Summit Boulevard, Frisco, CO 80443;Telephone: (970) 668-5000.The hotel is centrally located: All four mountain golf courses are only about 15-30 minute drives away.Check-in time: 4:00 PM; Check-out time: 11:00 AM.Dinners: Not used.Breakfast: Hot breakfast buffet is included on Saturday & Sunday mornings (Note: Vouchers to order free hot breakfast off the menu will be provided for your other/optional nights). Hotel policy: You must post a credit card or cash deposit upon check-in for any incidental expenses.Three basic options for out-of-towners wishing to enjoy a round of golf on unforgettable Arrowhead GC on Thursday Aug. 13th:Option 1: Arrive into either Denver International Airport (DIA) or Colorado Springs Airport (COS) on a “redeye” flight early on Thursday morning;Option 2: Arrive a day early, then stay at a hotel in the Denver Metro Area on Wednesday night Aug. 12th;Option 3: Head up to the MCE’s hotel (Holiday Inn Summit County) starting on Wednesday night Aug. 12th, then drive from Frisco back down to suburban Denver (Littleton-Roxborough) in time for the Arrowhead round.? “Option 3” is certainly doable for members who prefer an enjoyable and leisurely drive in the spectacular scenery offered by the high Rocky Mountains (versus switching hotels):The “bad news” about Option 3 is that it’ll take at least 1.5 hours each way — perhaps more if traffic is heavy — to drive from the Holiday Inn in Frisco down to Arrowhead on Thursday morning (as opposed to 15-20 minutes drive from the Hampton Inn Highlands Ranch). The “good news” about Option 3 is that you couldn’t ask for a more scenic drive, you’ll have all morning to get down from Frisco to Littleton (Roxborough), the room is slightly cheaper, and you won’t need to switch hotels.Optional / Extra Room-Nights at MCE’s Hotel (Holiday Inn in Frisco): The hotel will graciously allow members to enjoy our negotiated group rate (with breakfast vouchers) for up to three extra nights before and/or extra nights after the base-package’s two nights (Friday & Saturday nights), for a total of seven extra nights. In other words, one can stay there on Tuesday thru Monday nights, August 12-17th. Members may request extra room-nights only under the following express conditions and IMPORTANT notices:If you request the Standard Base Package without providing your own roommate, and then request additional room-nights at the hotel outside the base package (i.e., nights other than Friday and Saturday nights): ASGA-Denver will try, but cannot guarantee, to also find same-gender roommates for your extra hotel night(s), by pairing people having the same basic itineraries. However, members will be required to pay the solo-room rate for any additional night(s) for which you do not have a roommate. This also applies if your own pre-selected roommate arrives day(s) after you or leaves town before you.The following new policies MUST be followed when arranging for extra room-nights:Reservations for all extra nights which are made before you arrive at the MCE MUST be made through ASGA-Denver only (i.e., they cannot be reserved directly with the hotel before you arrive). Furthermore, for your convenience, ASGA-Denver will have the ability onsite (i.e., during the MCE) to accept either your checks or credit cards to pay for any additional extra nights that you don’t decide you want until after you arrive. Reservations for extra nights made after you arrive can be made either through ASGA-Denver or directly through the hotel but ONLY in person with Andy Bradford, the hotel’s Sales Director (i.e., they cannot be made through the front desk). Any extra nights which you arrange directly with the hotel after you arrive at the MCE will be put onto a NEW RESERVATION outside of the group block, which must be held by your credit card.If you have a roommate who is not staying the same extra night(s) with you, you cannot reserve extra nights through the hotel UNLESS you also notify the hotel to put those charges onto YOUR posted credit card (because, depending on who checked in first, the hotel’s system might have the shared room reserved in your roommate’s name). If you arrange for extra room-night(s) directly through the hotel, you MUST pay for them when you check out (i.e., BEFORE you depart from the hotel). It is unacceptable under every circumstance to allow the hotel to bill ASGA-Denver for the extra night(s) that you arranged directly.Optional Hotels in Denver Metro Area: For out-of-towners arriving early — including (but perhaps not limited to) members wishing to play Arrowhead but not wanting to risk flights arriving in time that morning — we have arranged group rates discount(s) at the following hotel(s) in the Denver Metro Area:Near Arrowhead Golf Course:Hampton Inn & Suites / Highlands Ranch3095 W. County Line RoadLittleton, CO 80129Telephone: (303) 794-1800The Hampton Inn & Suites / Highlands Ranch is located just off the Santa Fe Drive (U.S. 85) exit from the southern C-470 Beltway, and is perhaps the closest hotel to Arrowhead Golf Course: about 12 miles (only 15-20 minutes drive) away. The hotel has set aside a block of 20 rooms on Wednesday night August 12th for our early-arriving members, with an excellent group rate of only $119/night (normally $169/night), for a standard king or double queen room, plus taxes (currently 9.85%). Free parking, wireless Internet and breakfast are included. The hotel has set aside a block of 20 rooms on Monday night August 17th also (with the same group rate of $119/night plus taxes) if members wish to stay there again to stage their departure out of town. They will hold the rooms block until 12:00 Noon MDT on July 12th, after which any remaining unreserved rooms will be released. To obtain the special rate on Wednesday or Monday nights August 12th or 17th, visit denverhighlandsranchsuites. and enter the group code “MCE.” Or call 303-794-1800 and request a room under the “ASGA DENVER — MCE” group. At Denver International Airport:(No hotels selected)Note: For these Denver-area hotels, ASGA-Denver does not offer to make reservations nor agree to pay for those room-nights as part of your registration package (not even as options). Instead, interested members should contact those hotels directly, provide the promo codes provided to obtain the group rate, and thus arrange and pay for the room-night(s) yourself.(ASGA-Denver’s 2015 MCE)Optional Door-to-Door Shuttle Services between MCE’s Hotel and Denver Airport: Out-of-towners might consider skipping a rental car to save money, even if you’re flying in by yourself. There are several door-to-door shuttle services from DIA to the major mountain resort towns. ASGA-Denver doesn’t officially endorse one, but (as a courtesy) the largest operator is Colorado Mountain Express (a.k.a., “CME”), ; telephone: (800) 525-6363. If interested, contact CME directly to verify if their schedules meet yours and to make reservations. Once you’re at the hotel, you should be able to find shared rides to all the various events. And there’s both a Safeway grocery store and a Walmart literally right across the street from the hotel, so you won’t really need a car once you’re at the hotel, even if you forgot something. EVENT DINNERS — BASE PACKAGE AND OPTIONAL:444566675Friday Night Group Buffet Dinner (included in your base package): Enjoy a great lakeside sunset happy hour, followed by a delicious BBQ buffet dinner catered by the award-winning Arapahoe Café — a local legend — at the Marina Pavilion in Dillon, followed immediately by a live concert at the Dillon Amphitheater. Awards won by Arapahoe Café last year: Voted #1 Best BBQ, and #3 Best (overall) Summit County Restaurant…no small feat in a region of world-renowned ski-resort towns, which are in turn full of fabulous restaurants!Location: The Marina Pavilion is located on the shore of beautiful Lake Dillon, right behind the Dillon Amphitheater, where the southernmost end of Lake Dillon Drive dead-ends at the intersection of West Lodgepole Street in the Town of Dillon.Dinner menu: Beef brisket, smoked cider-brined turkey breast, and ‘Grillmaster Doug’s’ (pictured at left) award-winning BBQ ribs; all enhanced with their famous sides of baked beans, cole slaw & potato salad, and — drum roll, please! — their fantabulous smoked cheddar mac & cheese (Dinner tip: We suggest bringing an extra pair of socks, in case yours get knocked off!) and raspberry peach cobbler for dessert. Ice tea & lemonade included; alcoholic beverages are available for an additional charge.Photos from our 2014 MCE:1651055245(ASGA-Denver’s 2015 MCE)-38735111125Saturday Night Group Buffet Dinner (included in your base package): Have you ever wanted to party like a rock star? Well this is your big chance: We’ve “bought out” an exciting new restaurant in downtown Frisco for the entire evening for a private party!! Watch the sunset over Frisco Peak while enjoying circulating hors d’oeuvres during “Happy Hour,” followed by a buffet dinner of the house salad station with homemade dressings, three entrees — Greco’s famous homemade five-layer meat lasagna made with the secret family red-sauce recipe, their incredible jerk chicken marsala — which must be tasted to be believed — and their amazing citrus-driven salmon picatta, then finally topped off with dessert of mini cannolis and chocolate mousse cups. Paramedics will be on call, just in case “to die for” is more than merely a slogan! Greco’s offers fresh — not dry — pastas made with from-scratch sauces & dressings.Enjoy Greco’s fabulous wine list & well drinks at “Happy Hour” prices for the first hour-plus, cash bar for the duration of the party, followed by dancing until the next morning, literally! So instead of sitting in heavy weekend traffic heading back down to Denver’s August mid-heat, why not simply drive 5 minutes over to Keystone Ski Area’s nearby River Run Base Area to (quite literally) “catch a lift” up the mountain to enjoy their famous fun — and dare we say, romantic? — ‘Der Fondue Chessel’ gondola-fondue dinner with your new BFFs. Menu options versus costs are shown below:center123825123825314960The dinner prices shown on the registration form — $75.00 and $79.00 for Tier One and Tier Two menus, respectively — already include costs for the gondola ride, plus all the add-ons mentioned above: gratuities, taxes and U.S. Forest Service fees. The gondola ride departs from the River Run base area at 5:30 PM, and dinner starts at 6 PM. (Note: Minimum headcounts could apply, TBC).ASGA-Denver’s 2015 MCE)Other Dinner Options: If you’re arriving even earlier or staying after the MCE, here are two can’t-miss meal recommendations: try the Chicken Oscar (or Salmon Oscar) at “Pug Ryan’s” — a fun microbrew in downtown Dillon (you’ll be so impressed with that dish that you’ll name your next child Dillon or Oscar … which are better choices than Pug!) — and the Brunswick Stew at “Q4U” — walking distance from the hotel (just a block south, on the same side of the street).Staying a few extra days? Or just want to spend a few hours between golf rounds? Here are a few suggestions among many available options:Trout fishing: ”Gold-medal” trout streams are (almost) literally right outside your hotel room door!Frisco Marina: Rent a sailboat and spend the day tooling around on beautiful Lake Dillon!Live music: The open-air concerts at Lake Dillon Amphitheatre are a great way to top off a glorious day!Silverthorne Factory Outlets: Impress your friends with how much $$ you saved at Nike, Ralph Lauren, Kenneth Cole, Tommy Hilfiger Calvin Klein, Izod, Coach, and many others!ASGA-Denver’s 2015 MCE)Optional Nightlife: Summit County’s resort towns offer abundant nightlife options, so we made this year’s tee times a little later so we can enjoy it! Dillon Amphitheatre has a free open-air summer concert series with live bands (almost) every Friday & Saturday night, plus numerous other fun night spots with live music are close to golf and the hotel (some are free, some have modest cover charges). We’ll have recommendations for both evenings where to go out and have fun together — and maybe even dance off our dinner! (Note: Drinks and any cover charges, etc. are not included in your base package). Some Basic Tips about Mountain Golf: The effects of the sun are magnified in thinner high-altitude air, so you must hydrate — probably more than you’re normally accustomed. You’ll also want to generously slather on sunscreen — SPF 50 or higher is recommended — and perhaps even reapply it during the round; and good sunglasses are a must. Mornings & evenings will be chilly at these altitudes, even in August. And finally, the effects of alcohol are greatly enhanced at higher altitude, so please carefully monitor your intake – especially if you plan to drive.Payment Policies: This event is strictly limited to 100 members only — first come first served; and all registrations must be received by ASGA-Denver (i.e., not merely postmarked) by 7/25/2015; All prices for the base packages and various options are listed on the event’s registration form;Discounts — in the form of fees & penalties avoided — apply if you pay by check (or cash) and/or pay NLT 5/31/2015;IMPORTANT notes which only apply if you chose both the Standard Base Package and your own roommate: Your name MUST be cross-requested on your requested roommate’s registration form. If your registration arrives first, we will process the payment but must withhold your hotel registration until your roommate’s registration arrives (in other words, we cannot reserve your room until both parties sharing it have registered). And if your roommate’s registration eventually arrives after the 100-person limit is reached — or not at all — we will assign you a same-gender roommate. There are only two methods to pay for your MCE: By check (same as cash), and by credit card:Paying by check: Fill out the registration form by choosing your base package plus any options, etc.; then mail it with a check payable to “Denver Chapter — ASGA” for the resulting “Total Check Amount” to the P.O. box address shown on the registration form. Disregard portions of the registration form that derive credit amounts and fees, request credit card numbers and authorizations, etc. There is a $30 chapter’s service charge for checks returned unpaid by the bank (plus your & our bank fees).Paying by credit card: Follow the same process as if paying by check, except include credit card information — card number, expiration (in MM/YYYY format) and the CVV2 code (i.e., the 3-digit code on the back/right side of the card) — plus the convenience fee, etc., all where indicated on the registration form, and mail it to ASGA-Denver’s P.O. box address. Notes: We only accept Visa, MasterCard and Discover Card (i.e., we cannot accept American Express). For your security, we will shred the original registration form containing your credit card information after we process your payment. We will confirm receipt & processing status of your reservation by email upon receipt. If you don’t receive that confirmation within 14 days of mailing your registration, please notify us (as instructed below).Cancellation & Refund Policies: These policies are, in large part, dictated by the various courses, hotel & restaurants, and are not negotiable:If your registration is received after the 100-person limit is already filled: Your registration will not be processed and you will not incur penalty: your check will be returned uncashed (if paying by check), or your credit request will not be processed and your registration form will be shredded (if paying by credit card). At your request, we will hold your payment (unprocessed) and place you on a waiting list. If you cancel and if you find your own replacement: Regardless of when you cancel, there is no penalty (i.e., no deduction from any refund) if you find another ASGA member (must be same-gender if you both chose the Standard Base Package and had ASGA-Denver assign your roommate). We will transfer your paid reservation to your replacement as long as you provide their name to ASGA-Denver in time to notify the hotel & courses (at least 72 hours before your first scheduled event). If these conditions are met, you will receive a full refund (less credit card fees, if applicable). If you cancel and if ASGA-Denver must find your replacement:If there is a waiting list at the time you cancel, there is no penalty. You will receive a full refund (less credit card fees, if applicable) once the payment is processed from the person replacing you from the waiting list.If you cancel when there is no waiting list:ASGA-Denver will try, but is under no obligation, to find or assist in finding your replacement; If ASGA-Denver is eventually successful to find your replacement: a 25% cancellation fee applies if you cancelled before 7/25/2015; If you cancel after July 25, 2015:Absolutely NO refunds are guaranteed if you cancelled after 7/25/2015 for any reason (not even for medical emergencies). You may wish to consider buying travel insurance if your plans & availability are subject to change.ASGA-Denver’s Board of Directors will consider, but will not promise in advance, to waive cancellation penalties upon request, but only if a replacement is found for you. There are no refunds if you cancel after 7/25/2015 and no replacement is found for you.If different options are chosen by your replacement: Depending on how late you cancel, ASGA-Denver will attempt but cannot promise to withdraw your name from participating in all your chosen optional events (as well as from your base package). However, if your replacement — whether found by you or by ASGA-Denver — is found too late to withdraw your name and/or doesn’t want all your same selected options, then unfortunately the fees from your optional event(s) will be withheld from any refunds, and must be paid by ASGA-Denver to the venue(s).Credit card fees are not refundable: ASGA-Denver’s bank takes those fees once we process your credit card, and there are no instruments for us to recover them nor refund them under any circumstances.Membership Policies: You must be a full (i.e., dues-paying) member of ASGA in order to participate in this MCE. In other words, ‘adjunct’ (i.e., Meetup-only) members may not register for, attend nor participate in any of its base-package events or optional activities. To join ASGA, go to join.QUESTIONS? Please e-mail them to ‘ASGA-Denver_MCE@’ — OR if you prefer a phone call, please email your phone number and best time to call — and an MCE Planning Committee member will respond promptly.Revision 1 dated 3/02/2015. ................
