Whereas, he graduated from Irmo High School in 1973 where he played on the baseball and golf teams, attended Presbyterian College as a member of the Blue Hose Golf Team, and graduated from Lake City Community College in Florida; and

Whereas, Bobby Weed got his start in the golf business at an early age. Whereas, Bobby was hired by the PGA Tour in 1983 to oversee construction and design projects and became the PGA Tour’s in-house designer in 1987. During the thirteen years he was with the Tour, he worked with tournament player consultants such as Ray Floyd, Jack Nicklaus, Arnold Palmer, Sam Snead, and Gene Sarazen; and

Whereas, Bobby formed his own design firm in 1994 and his designs have produced a creditable list of accomplished courses that are consistently ranked among the best; and

Whereas, the following are a few of the design awards bestowed on Bobby Weed: Golf Club at Fleming Island, Florida, as “Golf Digest’s” 5th Best New Public Course of 2002; Olde Farm Golf Club in Bristol, Virginia, “Golf Digest’s” Best new Private Course of 2000; Slammer and Squire World Golf Village as “Golf for Women’s” Top 100 and “Golf Digest’s” Top 75 Golf Resorts; Timuquana Country Club in Jacksonville, Florida, site of 2002 USGA Senior Amateur Championship; and the redesign of the University of Florida Golf Course which was the subject of a 17-part series in “Sports Illustrated”; and

Whereas, Bobby Weed was recognized by “Golfdom Magazine’s” list of People for the Year 2000; and

Whereas, some of Bobby’s South Carolina efforts are Harbour Town remodel and Long Cove Club in Hilton Head, both under apprenticeship with Pete Dye, and the original design of the Weed Nine at Hilton Head National; and

Whereas, Bobby has designed more than twenty courses in the United States and Japan and has redesigned more than fifteen courses; and

Whereas, he is hereby recognized as the 2003 South Carolina Golf Association “Golf Week” Honoree for his dedicated service to the game of golf. Now, therefore,
