The prints will be displayed in the science center for the children to compare and contrast them using a magnifying glass.Blocks: Encourage students to use blocks to build buildings they are familiar with, such as those they live in or visit often.Dramatic Play: Encourage students to become teachers who teach students to read and write.Music &Movement: Practice the Days of the Week song and learn the days!WednesdayDate: 9/16Focus: Review: Daily Schedule, discuss what school is, and why we go to school. Teacher will present visuals according to their function (i.e. We make crafts: Teacher shows pre-made craft, markers, paint, etc., We sing songs: show instruments, CDS, etc.)Essential Question: Why do we go to school?Follow-up Questions: What do we do in school? What do we do in school? (How does that relate to the daily schedule?)Who do we see in school? (Review: friends and teachers)Math: Cut apart a picture of the student, thus creating a puzzle (cut in half 2 ways). Then have student assemble the puzzle of their face.Writing: Students can use the chalk and chalk boards to practice writing.pencils for the children to record their findings.Art: Students will be encouraged to create a picture of what they like to do best during morning meeting.Literacy/Library: They will walk around the classroom identifying objects that start with that letter.Science: Students will use the mirrors to look at themselves. They will look at the color of their eyes, their teeth, hair etc. Later the children might choose to look in the mirror with another child compare/contrast what they notice about each other. Focus on students’ role in the classroom. Teacher will present name cards as visuals and use sample with teacher’s name written in various art supplies. Essential Question: Who are you? (Focus on names)Follow-up Questions:What is a name?Do you have a name?Do your friends have names?Why do we need names?Math: Students will sort kitchen untensils by shape (i.e. forks, spoons).Writing: Using a Ziploc bag filled with paint, students will practice writing the letter of the week.Art: Using butcher paper, students will trace themselves and decorate it.Literacy/Library: They will use the letter book and music to review the special letter’s sound and words that begin with that letter.Dramatic Play: The children will dress up with whatever item is left and act out the different members in their families.Blocks: Can we create our names with blocks? Can we create the first letter of our names with blocks? Music & Movement: Practice the words and moves to the Good Morning Song!Fine Motor: Using cut-out letters, have students arrange the letters to spell out their names.Science: Handwashing/ soap protocol, have students practice appropriate hand washingFridayDate: 9/18Focus: Review: Names, Flow of the Day. Teacher will introduce concept of class rules. Students will help teacher come up with rules for the class. Teacher will demonstrate rules with hand gestures. Together, teachers and students will come up with gestures to associate with each rule.Essential Question: What are class rules?Follow-up Questions:How can we keep each other safe?How can we be good listeners?What are some rules you can think of?Math Using cut outs of different colored paper, encourage students to sort colors or create a patternWriting: Students can use the chalk and chalk boards to practice writing.Art: Students will continue to decorate the picture of themselves that they traced.Literacy/Library: They will choose a book and identify words that start with that letter.
