Success Criteria:

• I can explain what a synonym is

• I can identify when I should use a stronger word in a persuasive piece of writing.

Activity 2

Highlight the strong words in this paragraph.

The food that the school canteen serves needs to be changed as it is far too unhealthy and is promoting bad eating. It should be serving healthy food and should stop serving everything else. It is imperative that the canteen promotes healthy eating to all students and the best way to do this is to change the menu. Students will be sad that the menu gets changed however by explaining to them the reasons for the changes and discussing the changes with them they will see why they are important. Once the canteen changes the menu the students will be delighted with the range of food on offer and will continue to devour the food every lunchtime knowing that they are promoting and engaging in healthy eating.

Activity 3
