Security officer for parking lot patrol from mid-afternoon until the store closed cars stay if they are not there, their cars will be parked in the prominent areaCustomer engagement program with third party officer to encourage interaction with customers, not seen violent crimes in that area in the last couple months. 7-11/Mike: Loitering and panhandling issueA growing concern as we add stores in downtown areas, such as Dallas, LA, and any major Metro area. A lot of push backs from city due to loitering outside of our stores. To address this issue, we implemented the following technologies in the stores that are stand alone:Mosquito speaker that emits high-pitch noise, mix results, can’t deploy a mosquito device in the downtown area where people live and work.Muzak—classical musical that we play outside of our store, implemented in two stores in San Francisco and Dallas. Positive impact, visited the Dallas store last week, and saw no panhandling. Walgreens/TimLooked at mosquito device, but have not deployed in any stores yet Also deployed the weaponized music in the New Orleans store Local ordinance issues, but able to push throughDNA spray technologyCustomer, offender, associate interviews around the technology. Deterrence value, working with the existing signage, how do we use the signage along with that solution? The LPRC is looking for 2-3 retailers with high risk stores in Jacksonville. 7-11/Earl: Baltimore state attorney’s office is against it. Suggestion: run it by your state attorney’s office before you test it because they are the ones who are going to prosecute those cases. Walgreens/Tim Muller: they presented the technology anti-burglary and robbery solution, not necessarily spraying for hot products or ORC type of purposes. They haven’t thought through the mature of the US market on a trigger device. Legal, privacy, and compliance issues, what happens if you spray on the good customers and associates?Rite Aid/Bob: interested in putting the technology on bottles of Oxycodone, that are fake bottles with a GPS tracker. The DNA spray may help the police investigation. 3SI/Lisa: only the guilty people are getting the spray on them, eliminating the concern of getting it on the innocent people. Limited people are handling bottle—only the pharmacists who handle the drugs and criminals when they take them. Rite Aid/Bob: also use trackers with deposit bag, another area to try that technology.
