THE RIDGEWOOD FOUNDATION SCHOLARSHIP APPLICATION

$3,000 to be awarded by The Ridgewood Foundation

The Ridgewood Foundation scholarships are one-year, non-renewable awards, which are offered to Ridgewood High School District 234 students who are enrolling in a community college, university/college, or post-secondary school for the year following graduation. All scholarships are payable to the community college, university/college, or post-secondary school of the student’s choice. The earnings of the Ridgewood High School Foundation determined that two scholarships in the amount of $3,000 would be offered.

* Note: If you are applying for this scholarship, you cannot also apply for The Foundation Achievement Scholarship.

Also, no student will be awarded more than one of The Ridgewood Foundation scholarships.

Eligibility

1. Applicants must currently be students in good standing at Ridgewood High School.

2. Applicants must be seniors, graduating the current school year.

3. Applicants must be enrolling in a four-year university or college for the first term following graduation from

Ridgewood High School.

4. Applications must be given to Ms. Cantos, room 147, by 3:30 pm on Friday, March 13, 2020.

5. Only applications completed in entirety will be considered.

Awards

1. Two $3,000 scholarships will be awarded.

2. Scholarships will be payable any time after upon receipt of definite proof of enrollment in a university/college and upon successful completion of the first term of studies at that college/university following graduation from Ridgewood High School. Proof of enrollment may include a statement from the office of the registrar with the seal of the school or a statement on school letterhead signed by a school official. Proof of successful completion of the first term of studies may include a grade report from the university/college or an official transcript from the university/college.

3. Students have up to one year from the date of graduation to redeem the scholarship.

Instructions

1. Complete the scholarship application in its entirety.

2. Give the Recommendation Form to a faculty or staff member to complete.

a. They should submit the Recommendation Form to Ms. Cantos when they are finished with the form.

b. The form must be submitted before March 13, 2020

3. The following materials need to be paper-clipped together with a cover page (your name and the scholarship title).

4. Attach the completed and signed Personal Information form.

5. Attach a single page containing the Additional Information.

6. Attach the completed and signed Statement from School

7. Attach an official high school transcript.

8. Type and attach a double-spaced, 100-500 word essay on the following topic: What the Ridgewood Foundation Scholarship would mean to me.

9. Essay graded on originality and appropriateness to topic.

10. Return completed applications to: Ms. Cantos, room 147 or mail to: Ms. Cantos, Ridgewood High School, 7500 W. Montrose Ave, Norridge, IL 60706
