SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM

The National School Plant Management Association seeks to assist students continue their education by offering scholarships. The NSPMA has established a scholarship program for students who plan to obtain an Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree.

Any graduating senior, college freshman, sophomore or junior is eligible to apply for the scholarships. A total of $3,500 will be disbursed annually for up to five individuals based on the selection criteria. The individual scholarships may range from $500 to $1,500 depending on candidate interest and evaluation results.

The scholarship payment will be made directly to the college or university and will be credited to the recipient’s account. No money will be given to the recipient.

Individuals interested in being considered must complete all of the application materials listed below and submit the required documents by the deadline application date of March 1.

Procedure for Submitting Application:

1. This information packet contains all the materials necessary to participate in the NSPMA scholarship program.

2. The scholarship information should be completed by both the applicant and his/her principal or counselor. As the instructions indicate, the applicant’s principal or counselor should complete parts I, II and III, while parts IV, V and VI are to be completed by applicant.

3. Mail your completed application form to the program director.

Judging:

Each applicant will be assigned an “applicant number” to ensure impartiality and objectivity. The applicants will be judged by a committee composed of three NSPMA board members. The criteria for the judging of applicants are as follows:

I. ACT or SAT composite scores 15 points

II. Applicant’s cumulative grade point average 20 points

(excluding Spring semester grades)

III. Applicant’s curriculum 15 points

IV. Financial need 20 points

V. Extracurricular activities/work activities 20 points

VI. Essay 10 points

All judging will be completed by April 1. NSPMA state representatives will be notified of scholarship recipients by April 15.
