Renaissance “Baseball Card” Project

Renaissance means “revival” or “rebirth”. The Renaissance is considered the transitional period between the Middle Ages and the Modern Era. (1300-1600)

In this project, students will analyze major figures of the Italian Renaissance and Northern Renaissance and create “baseball cards” with the vital statistics of each person on their team. They will be explaining the impact of each person on the Renaissance.

1. Choose a minimum of 10 people from the chart (there must be at least on person from each group).

2. Research the 5 W’s and the H – on each card, students will need to report

a. Who each person is

b. What are some things each is famous for (titles of books, painting, sculptures, etc)

c. When each was born and died

d. Where each lived/traveled

e. What are their contributions to the Renaissance/ Reformation?

f. How did their contributions affect the Renaissance/ Reformation?

g. Why are their contributions greater than that of other Renaissance/ Reformation figures?

h. How would the Renaissance/ Reformation be different without the contributions of

your MVP?

Be sure to use a lot of color and creativity on your baseball cards. You may also create a envelope/case to store you baseball cards in.

Grading:

• Each baseball card is worth 5 points, totaling 25 points.

• The speech is worth an additional 25 points.
