Tom Bean ISD Grading Guidelines During COVID-19 Distance LearningMiddle School and ElementaryPhilosophical Premises:We understand this global pandemic has had overwhelming impacts on all of our families and we want to extend grace to students during this time of crisis.We understand that this shift to remote learning has impacted the instructional integrity and the integrity of our grading system.We understand that students have varying levels of support and instructional resources at home.Why Not Use Pass / Fail? Pass/Fail does not provide all students with the opportunity to raise their overall semester average by being engaged in their learning this 4th nine-week grading period, including students who failed the 3rd 9wks. Grading Guidelines:Teachers will assign 2 grades per week – per course - during distance learning.No more than 16 grades per course during the 4th 9wksAll grades will be recorded in the Daily Grades of the gradebookOne assignment will be a scaled grade based on the completion of the assigned work (if a student completes all the assigned work, the student will receive a 100%, if a student completes about 75% of the assigned work, the student will receive a 75%, if a student completed about half the assigned work, the student will receive a 50%, if a student does not complete the work, the student will receive a 0%)One assignment (deemed by the teacher as the most vital to demonstrate progress in learning for the content area) for the week will be graded for accuracy as assignments are typically done. Any grade that is significant (test/project-like) will be a double daily gradeAll assignments will have a one-week timeframe to complete / turn-in ................
