ENG 2DX

Every day, as you enter the classroom, you will begin to work on a “bell ringer” task. You do not need to wait for the bell! As soon as you are settled into your seat, begin the task assigned for the day. If you are late to class (NEVER!!!!!), please enter the room as quietly as possible and be prepared to get started on your bell ringer immediately.

Here’s our schedule…

Monday/Wednesday/Friday:

• Independent reading (15-20 minutes). Due to the reading expectations for this class, you will need to use this time wisely!

• You may also use this time to complete your reading journals.

Tuesday:

• Grammar Tip of the Week! Even though grammar often leads to groaning, it’s a key part of becoming a strong reader/writer. We will aim to perfect our writing skills by tackling grammar issues students struggle with in essay writing.

Thursday:

• All students will sign up for ONE Thursday over the course of the semester. In preparation for this time slot, the student will read and summarize an article of interest. Upon entering class, he/she will show us an overhead of the article and an overhead of the summary. The student will present the summary and ask the class to become involved in a brief discussion. I will give you an example as a starting point!

ENJOY!!
