On the main page select “Finding Federal Dollars.” On the “Finding Federal Dollars” page select “Grant Writing Tips” in the left margin. This will lead to a series of links on grant writing.

The Foundation Center



The mission of the Foundation Center is to foster public understanding of the foundation field by collecting, analyzing, and disseminating information. Select “Learning Lab” on the top border, and then select “Proposal Writing Short Course”. The course gives a variety of tips and suggestions of how to write a successful grant. In addition, there are four cooperating collections in North Carolina that provide a core collection of Foundation Center publications and a variety of supplementary materials and services in areas useful to grant seekers. School Grants



School Grants has tips (“Grant Writing Tips”) and examples of grants (“Sample Proposals”). There are also some grant writing links on the “Links” page. These tips can be used in any field and are not exclusive to education.

North Carolina Center for Nonprofits



The Center is a statewide network for nonprofits. It is an information center on effective practices, publications, and other areas of interest. On the main page select “Information Center.” On that page scroll down and select “What are the basic components of a good grant proposal?” There is also a useful links section; select “Links of Interest” on the main page.

National Youth Development Information Center



The National Youth Development Information Center is an extensive site with information on grants, effective programs, statistics, publications, policies, evaluations, best practices, and news about youth programming.

Community Tool Box



The goal of the Community Tool Box is to support the work of organizations engaged in promoting community development. The Tool Box provides over 6,000 pages of practical skill-building information on over 250 different topics. Topic sections include step-by-step instruction, examples, check-lists, templates and related resources. The site is sponsored by the University of Kansas.
