Professor Owen Davis Launch Your Startup SPRING 2021 Launch Your Startup provides a rigorous framework for “what do you do with an idea”. This course provides a repeatable method of taking an idea and working on the key aspects of what makes a great startup business. We will cover customer discovery, market sizing, pricing, business model choices, the role of the CEO/founder and many, many more topics. By the end of the course students will have a clear view of their product and market, and the fit between both. This course is open to businesses of all types and is geared to turning those business ideas into high growth startups. The course reading list includes key books that describe aspects of great businesses and lessons learned from notable startup companies. We use cases, weekly assignments, team presentations and in class exercises to develop the interlocking pieces of a startup. You may work on your own idea that you are passionate about or join a team whose idea is exciting to you. Teams are highly encouraged. We will work towards launching a minimum viable product or service by the end of the semester, having gained a deeper understanding of the economics, customer priorities and competitive landscape of your startup focus. Come with passion, courage and the desire to build something great.
