HISTORICAL JOB FAIR - Quia

HISTORICAL JOB FAIR

YOU WILL BE ASSUMING TWO ROLES IN THIS PROJECT:

1. You will research and prepare a portfolio of one of these figures. You are looking for employment from those who can afford to hire you.

2. You will also be in the position of having enough money or wealth to employ any one of these figures. You will be examining and evaluating people from each arena.

You will be evaluating historical figures from four different arenas.

ARTISTS AND AUTHORS: These are people that, because of the wealth of new trading in Europe, can concentrate on art, literature, music and writing. Most of them are well-rounded people. They start questioning traditional techniques of art as well as institutions of the time.

Religious Figures: These are people that have begun to question the Roman Catholic Church. Some of these figures will break away from the Church and start their own Protestant religion. Other figures will try to reform the Roman Catholic Church from within.

Absolute Monarchs: These are the kings and queens of Europe that have total control over their countries. They try to take away power from anyone who is a threat to them, whether it is the Church, nobility or another country. They usually feel they get their power from God (Divine Right Theory).

Explorers: These people were stirred by the desire for adventure, gold, glory and their faith in God. Some went in search of riches and fame, whereas others wanted to spread their religion. Their actions bring into contact the peoples of Africa, Asia, Europe and the Americas.

You will need to present yourself in the best light possible-Remember; you are looking for a job!

Highlight the great achievements of your life! You will also need to evaluate the qualifications of

others very carefully. You only want to employ the best candidates.

*Organize your information before putting your resume together-most recent comes first in your list

*Get copies of your “work” to include in your final portfolio. Make a separate file that identifies each work to help you stay organized.
