Since the film’s release in 2004, MEAN GIRLS

Since the film's release in 2004, MEAN GIRLS has become a cultural phenomenon, developing a cult status. TV and film actress and author, Emmy winner Tina Fey ("30 Rock," "Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt," "Saturday Night Live"), who wrote the screenplay for the movie, is adapting her script for the stage.

This new musical's storyline follows Cady Heron, who enters a high school in Illinois after living in Africa. Nothing has prepared her for the malicious ways of her new home town. The na?ve new student gets involved with the cutthroat popular clique, The Plastics, a trio led by the cruel Regina George. When Cady concocts a plan to end Regina's reign, she learns the hard way "you can't cross a Queen Bee without getting stung."

Direction and choreography is by Tony Award? winner Casey Nicholaw (The Book of Mormon, Aladdin, Something Rotten!), with music by Jeff Richmond ("30 Rock," "Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt") and lyrics by Nell Benjamin (Legally Blonde).

MEAN GIRLS gets to the heart of "what it means to be a true friend, a worthy nemesis, and above all, a human being."
