He was a lifetime McPherson County resident. 255143012890500Dennis was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force, stationed in Del Rio, Texas. After he returned home from the service, he worked at Swick-Guth in McPherson. After ten years, his family moved to Moundridge and operated Anderson Food Store. Dennis was very passionate about his store and took a very personal interest in the people who worked and traded with him. After 18 years, he decided to close the store and move back to McPherson and work for Dillon’s, where he later retired in 1998. Dennis was born July 3, 1933, in the New Gottland community in McPherson County, Kansas, the son of Robert Edward and Pearl May Anderson. He was the second of five boys. On July 4, 1953, Dennis was united in marriage to Betty Jean Schmidt in Galva, Kansas. They enjoyed 58 wonderful years of marriage. Survivors include: his wife, Betty of the home; children, Brenda Schrag and husband, Gary, of Moundridge, KS, Lynda Nisly and husband, Mark, of Hutchinson, KS, Brad Anderson of McPherson, KS, and Bryan Anderson and wife, Tina, of McPherson, KS; brothers, E. Dale Anderson and wife, Flora, of Salina, KS, Larry Anderson and wife, Eva, of Jackson, MS, Loren “Andy” Anderson and wife, Karen, of McPherson, KS, and Royce Anderson and wife, Judy, of McPherson, KS; eight grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
