The visit was partly in recognition of the Iowa Great Places designation.Iowa Great Places grant:The grant has been submitted, with a request of $400,000 to support the square project. The grant would fund monuments, lighting, planters and decorative paving. We will be notified before the end of the year if we will receive the grant.Christmas Lanes:6 lanes have signed up so far and we expect at least 2 more. We will do some more publicity. Jessica asked if we should offer to help people put up their lights. The group was not enthusiastic about that, but Jessica will see if she can recruit some outside volunteers to help upon request. We are also promoting the lighting contest that is being done by the holiday home tour group.Work Plan: The group reviewed the work plan for 2021 and approved of the items on it. The items we will be working on for the next 6-18 months are: yard of the month; warren county strong banner project; holiday lanes; Iowa great places (designation maintenance and grant management); tourism promotion; historic places tour/markers; town entryway improvements. Other items may be added as opportunities arise.Subcommittee Updates:Historic markers: Amy, Jo and Elodie are working on a list of historic sites in Indianola and asked the group to contribute any they know of. Lorin asked if the downtown plaques can be documented as part of this work.Tourism: Staci reported that they will be working on how to better take advantage of the offerings of the Greater Des Moines CVB and Travel Iowa. And will be recruiting volunteers to help with social media. Lorin shared the first tourism promotion video for Warren County – the hope is to make a series for social media.Yard of the month: We will give a holiday themed yard of the month again for December. Taylor suggested creating several themes to give multiple awards. We will wait until after the tour of homes lighting contest so that we are not competing with that in any way.2021 Officers:We will need to elect officers at the December meeting. Any member is eligible to be an officer. The roles are: chair, vice chair, secretary and treasurer. Taylor is chair, Steve is vice chair, Jennifer is treasurer; Secretary is vacant.Meeting adjourned at 7:10 pmNext meeting will be held virtually on December 3rd at 6:30 pm. ................
