Greek Gods and Goddesses PowerPoint Presentation

Project Due:

Greek Gods and Goddesses Poster

With a partner, you will be researching and sharing your findings on a Greek god or goddess. You will have only TWO DAYS in class to research the background and surrounding myths of this individual.

Instead of using Google as a search engine, you will use (type your god/goddess’s name in the Quick Search box and then choose the Selected Sites Tab). You must research the points listed below, and remember to get Works Cited information for each source (including pictures) that you use.

Once you have done your research, you will then create a poster to share with the class. Please be sure to include each category listed. Points will be deducted for not following directions. The rubric for the project is on the back.

• You must include your god’s name in large attractive letters centered near the top of the poster.

• Under the Greek name, in smaller letters, write “Roman Name:” and the god’s Roman name.

• Below the Roman name, write a brief description of your god and put a picture of your god. The description should include both physical and personality characteristics.

• Next write “The god of…” and indicate his/her domain (ex. love or war). Also write “Symbols” and write the symbols associated with your god. Include small pictures of one or more of the symbols. If your research doesn’t indicate any symbols, write: “No symbols are associated with this god, but based on my research ___________ could represent this god because________.”

• On the left side of the poster, near the top, write “Relatives of yourgod.” Then indicate any relationships. Pictures are optional.

• Below that, write “Accomplishments, Milestones, and Special Powers” and then list your information.

• Next, write “Myth about yourgod” and summarize your myth. Remember that it should only be a paragraph (about eight sentences.) If you have a lot of information, you may need to either write smaller or eliminate some information.

• On the right side of the poster, near the top, write “Interesting facts about yourgod” and then indicate any facts. You must include at least one. Pictures are optional.

• Below that, write “Allusion to yourgod” and then indicate the allusion and explain. Pictures are optional.

• Next, write “Yourgod in Today’s World” and create business card or advertisement that your god would use if they were around today.

• At the bottom, write “Works Cited.” Then list your sources alphabetically. They should be formatted as follows:

Web Site:

Name of Site. Date of Posting/Revision. Name of institution/organization affiliated with the site (sometimes found in copyright statements). Date you accessed the site [electronic address].

Book:

Lastname, Firstname. Title of Book. Place of Publication: Publisher, Year of Publication.

If you have a lot of sources, you may need to make the font smaller. Please ask me if you are having trouble formatting.

• On the back of the poster, include both your first name and last name and your partner’s first name and last name in dark ink. Also include your hour.

• Staple this rubric with your names on it and a research sheet for EACH person to the back as well.
