Characters from Legends, Folklore Tales, and Myths Research Project
Expectations: You are required to research one mythical creature from either a legend, folklore tale or myth.

The following information is to help guide you through this paper and project:
Research Paper= (Everyone in the group is responsible for written a section of the essay. Students will be graded on individual work and group work.)
➢ Student 1 research and writing assignment:
o Thorough background information about the character (parents? siblings? married? Where is he/she from? Where does he/she live?).
o Include background information about the culture and country his/her stories originated from.
➢ Student 2 research and writing assignment:
o Special talents, skills, or traits (god of moon, strong, beautiful, ...)
➢ Student 3 research and writing assignment:
o Weaknesses or areas that cause trouble for the character (love weakness, liar, etc), include explanation.
➢ Student 4 research and writing assignment:
o In your own words, retell a story about your character
o Compare story to a modern day equivalent or explain what values and morals are represented from that stories culture.
Project (Choose from one of the following projects below. Prepare to answer a few questions about your character):
❖ Create a life size poster of your character that illustrates information about them
❖ Construct a tourist brochure for one of the following locations in their story. Your objective is to encourage people to visit this place. Be as accurate as possible. Make sure to include:
-illustrations that accurately depict what this location looks like
-description of what the location is like and what to do there
-reasons why people should choose your location as a travel destination
❖ Create a model of what the creatures room or suitcase might look like.
❖ Make a PowerPoint jeopardy game about your character.
❖ Do a visual media plot map by having the group act out key scenes from the story.
❖ Create a storyboard for a movie about your character. Must have a movie trailer with this project.
❖ Throw a feast for your creature. Make invites, a menu, have activities, have a reason for the gathering and request gifts suited for this character.
❖ Intervention: A group made up of other characters from stories your character is in will confront your character. One student must play the character and react to the members of the group who share what your character’s behavior has done to them. Similar to the Jerry Springer Show.
