JUNE 11, 2019 MEETING

Call to order at 2:00 p.m. by Richard Golden with the Pledge of Allegiance

Roll Call:

Present: Richard Golden, Linda Van Etten, Lynn Brunner, Patricia Caporta, Larry Krajeski, Judi LoPresti, John LoPresti, Beverly Myers, Dorothy True, Ken Brooks & Terry McGee Ward.

Excused: Barbara Lindsay, Florence Ohle, Ed Bloomer, Lillian Moore, Dawn Wallant

MINUTES REVIEW & APPROVAL: On motion of Dottie True, seconded by John LoPresti, membership approved the May minutes with changes

• Still addressing questions from NYSOFA regarding the annual budget

• ACUU Pre-conference update

Terry McGee, Executive Director:

• Senior Day: considering that the weather was bad, we had 240 seniors in attendance. Reviewed comment cards and a discussion took place on plans for next year’s Senior Day event.

NEW Business:

• Advisory Council Lunch - Tuesday, July 9, 2019 @ Angel’s Pizzeria in Cairo. Please RSVP Ruth by July 2nd.

• Florence Ohle, Director Community Action - EXCUSED

• Lynn Brunner

• Asked about procedure clarity on home delivered meals for seniors being discharged from the hospital.

• Father’s Day Lunch will be held on Wednesday 6/19/19 @ Rivertown Senior Center

• Linda Van Etten:

Wanted everyone to know that she is still visiting clients in the local Nursing Homes. Recently met with Wally Thompson and said he is doing well and always welcomes visits.

• Ed Bloomer - EXCUSED

• Patricia Caporta (for Kim Kaplan):

o Public Health will be at the Youth Fair

o Family Planning Clinic will now be called Family Planning Center

o Rabies treatment schedule is on the website

o Several updates on office procedures were discussed

o Discussed measles outbreak, recommendation of fines on camps in the area.

o Lead levels were discussed

• Michelle Deyo, Director Veterans Services - ABSENT

• Larry Krajeski, Director Catskill Mountain Housing

o Waiting for the RESTORE contract to be approved.

o Home repair project awards are available.

• Barbara Lindsay, GCT - EXCUSED

• John & Judi LoPresti

o Judi brought two samples of her current art projects that she is doing at the free art classes offered by the WAJPL club. Anyone is welcome to join. They currently have ceramic, painting and stained glass classes

o John stated that the WAJPL clubs attendance is steadily going up. They recently had the VFW come in for a flag ceremony and a lesson on what each fold in the flag represents.

o Sen. George Amedore will be at the 7/15/19 WAJPL meeting. All are welcome to attend.

o The Cairo Quilters Quilt Show will take place in August 2019, at the Cairo Public Library. Look for the flyer in the RTN.

o Wanted to let everyone know how informative the “Senior Times Newsletter” from Central Hudson is, if we are ever looking for RTN filler, there is a lot of information in it.

o A couple of the Cairo Council Members attended the lunch at the Acra Senior Center. Dottie wanted them to see the center and to get an idea how much work needs to be done there.
