Whatcom Transportation Authority (WTA)

Fixed Bus Routes

Call for information on Bellingham and Whatcom County bus routes. Bus passes and

reduced fare cards are available. Some county areas offer a Flex Route where the

driver will pick up at an alternative stop with at least two hours notice.

Specialized Transportation

Provides paratransit services to seniors and people with disabilities. Eligibility is based

on disability, age, and other criteria. Call for specific eligibility criteria and an

application.

Safety Net Service

Connections to the WTA transportation system are arranged for those in remote parts

of Whatcom County on certain days.

Transportation provided for Medicaid clients to DSHS covered medical appointments. Transportation is made possible through bus passes, gas vouchers, or another provider.

Volunteer Drivers

Volunteers may be available (through Whatcom Volunteer Center) to drive low-income

seniors & disabled persons to medical appointments. Clients must provide a minimum

of 4 days notice and be ineligible for DSHS assistance. Call Aging & Disability

Resources for referral.

Love INC.

Love In the Name of Christ is a consortium of volunteers from area churches that work

together to provide volunteer services to needy persons. They request the client call

directly Monday - Friday 9:00 am-12:00 pm and 1:00 pm- 3:00 pm.

Veterans Services

Disabled American Veterans (DAV) provides daily van transportation from Bellingham

(6:45 am) to the Veteran's Medical Center in Seattle for eligible clients whose

appointments are between 9-1 pm. The van cannot take wheelchairs.

Call between 10:00 am-3:00 pm, Monday ? Friday.

Call at least 72 hours (3 working days) before your appointment.

Counties to SeaTac Airport. Fares vary depending on pick up location. Senior
