FinGame Presentation - High Point University

FinGame Presentation

The presentation should be about 10-15 minutes. The main point of the presentation is to tell your story. That is, tell the class what happened to your company over the course of the simulation and why.

Discuss various financial data and ratios and how the data and ratios compare to your goals (i.e., your pro forma . . . what you were forecasting to happen). You should also discuss the trends. Ideally, explain each graph comparing actual versus pro forma as well as the trends. The following financial data or ratios should be discussed. Having a graph of each is highly recommended.

Potential Data to Discuss

1. Quarterly sales growth (%)

2. Actual Gross Profit Margin vs. Projected Gross Profit Margin (%)

3. Sales Price Per Unit vs. Cost Per Unit ($): What did you do to reduce the cost per unit.

4. Labor costs per unit ($): What did you do to try and get the costs down?

5. Growth of labor costs per unit (%)

6. Net Income Growth (%)

2. Net Profit Margin (%)

3. Return on Assets (%)

4. Return on Equity (%)

5. Earnings Per Share (EPS) ($)

6. EPS growth (%)

7. Shares outstanding (number)

8. Debt Ratio (Total Liabilities/Total Assets) (number): What was your goal and why? Did your goal change? What are the strengths and weaknesses of your debt ratio? In your opinion, did you have too much debt? Why or why not?

9. Outstanding debt yields on the primary debt utilized—e.g., short-term, 2-year loan, 3-year loan, or bonds (%)

10. Times Interest Earned (number)

11. End-of-the-game cost of capital (%): Explain your strategy or what your strategy would be going forward to lower your cost of capital.

12. Dividends per share ($)

13. Stock price ($)

14. Accumulated Wealth ($)

Some of this financial data tells a similar story. Do not spend too much time re-explaining similar graphs.

In all cases, explain major changes. Why were there changes? Did the changes get you closer to your goal? If not, what did you do to get back on track?

End the presentation with what you would do differently and what you learned from the game.
