Position Title: Engineering Technician

Series/Grade: GS-0802-12

Full Performance Level: GS-12

Duty Location: Corps of Engineer - Huntsville, AL, Directorate of Engineering

Salary Range: $76,859 - $99,921

Work Schedule: Full-time

Appointment Type: Permanent

Travel Requirement: 25% Temporary Duty Travel required

Relocation/Recruitment Expenses: Relocation (PCS) expenses may be authorized (subject to available budget) if the selecting official determines the relocation is in the best interests of the government.

Qualifications Requirements:

In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. The experience must be described/reflected in your resume. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Crops, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

Specialized Experience for GS-12: One year of specialized experience which includes: 1) creating designs for construction and renovation projects using Computer Aided Design (CAD) and Building Information Model (BIM) systems; 2) providing support for other system users including training personnel and troubleshooting CAD/BIM issues; and 3) maintaining office CAD/BIM files, standards and procedures. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-11).

Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted.

Responsibilities/Duties:

1. Investigating and analyzing a variety of unusual and unique problems, questions or conditions associated with CAD/BIM systems.

2. Executing daily functions required for efficient operation of multiple hardware, software and databases for the CAD/BIM systems.

3. Studying short and long range tasks to analyze, design and establish parameters and techniques for correct CAD/BIM deficiencies and improving the integration through enhanced hardware/software, ancillary tools and equipment.

4. Prepares and establishes procedures for system files, maintains system documentation.

5. Coordinates CAD/BIM requirements with manufacturers, contractor representatives, contract A/E firms, project engineers, and others involved in projects.
