Pumpkin Math
This week, students participated in a fun math activity with pumpkins. They had to estimate how many seeds were inside, how much it weighed, the circumference, and if it would sink or float in water. Actual measurements were then recorded….they even had to scoop out and count the seeds! A great time was had by all. Pumpkin seeds were then roasted and enjoyed during our Halloween Party. (
Family Activities of the Month
Starting next month, we will have some fun family activities. These will include Sunday field trips, Sunday bike rides, and song/quote of the month. More to come on these fun events for all family members!!!! (
Enjoy your Halloween weekend!

Reading Comprehension
Bookmark and Goals
Your student should have an appropriate book inside his/her homework folder today and inside this book should be a hot pink bookmark. PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE, read the information attached to this newsletter for new reading homework requirements and information about your student’s goals. This information needs to be signed and returned on Monday.
.
Dreambox & Multiplication Facts
Please make sure that your student is spending a total of at least 100 minutes each week on Dreambox. The daily time needs to be recorded on your student’s math log.
It is also highly recommended to spend some time each week studying multiplication facts!!! This will have to be done on your own. The time doesn’t have to be recorded on a log, but please make sure that it is still being done. Learning multiplication facts fluently is a vital skill that students need to master in 3rd grade. I am doing everything I can to help your student in class and showing them various tricks to help them learn their facts, but your help with this too would really help. Just 5 minutes a day would make a huge difference!
P.E. Activity Log
Please make sure that your student is doing some sort of activity 5 days a week. A good website to use to track mileage walked/run/biked is: . You can type in an address, plot a route, and it will calculate the mileage for you. The other cool thing about it is you can keep track of every type of exercise/activity. Make it a family affair and log your activity as a family! $300 OF MINI MONEY TO THOSE WHO CREATE AN ACCOUNT, LOG A FAMILY EXERCISE ACTIVITY, AND E-MAIL TO LET ME KNOW YOU’VE DONE SO. (
