NEW BUSINESSFall Conference week of November 3rd at Atlantic Beach---Per Suzanne it’s to be held at the Double Tree at Atlantic Beach; with overflow rooms at Hampton Inn; Angie currently working on the programOLD BUSINESSSpring Conference---Suzanne Hamby, Angie Ledford---Per Suzanne she is still waiting on checks in order to close things out. Had 336 signed up; 199 members, students and corporate; Karyn speaking on behalf of Angie reported that she had received 53 surveys and that a majority were positive. Enjoyed having Mike Reynolds back again as well as Norma Huston and William Keller. Showed the least interest in the Disability Integration class and it was noted that more time needed to be added to vendor introductions.Legislative Trip to DC---Brian Short’s recommendations---To Present 4 program papers consisting of (1) EMPG---5 % increase and no cuts; (2) Homeland Security Grant Program---continue at the current level; (3) UASI---show support and importance of the Charlotte Region to continue at least at the current level and no decrease; (4) Emergency Management background paper.Strategic Plan---Gary JonesI would like to discuss the closing of one of the three strategic plan objectives assigned to the Legislative Committee; and, for which I provided Executive Committee members with the objective worksheet yesterday……so you could be familiar with the request in advance of this meeting:Objective 1.5: “Increase engagement with the state legislative process.”The single task under the objective is: “Assign an individual on the Legislative Committee the responsibility of monitoring the state legislative process.”Drew Pearson (Dare County EM Coordinator and Legislative Committee member) has agreed to assume the role of monitoring State legislative issues. Recommend this Task; and subsequently, the entire Objective, be “Closed.”Approval was provided to “close out” this objective.Ad Hoc Committee---Karyn Yaussy---The Membership and Voting Committee is moving forward. Two more people have been added to the Committee; one from the corporate level---Charles Paliseno with Duke Energy and one from Emergency Management level---Jeremy Knighton---City of Asheville Fire Department. And, I will bring copies to any future meetings as well (like the “EM Forum”).Next Meeting---May 14, 2019 at 9:00 amMeeting adjourned at 9:22 a.m. ................
