Course Overview:

This course is specifically designed for surgeons, administrators, managers, perioperative nurses, and allied health professionals working in robotic surgery to learn the strategies for running a successful robotic surgery program across multiple specialties. This course will consist of didactic lectures and hands-on sessions that cover areas such as operating room efficiency, optimizing the role of the bedside assistant, intraoperative care, troubleshooting, and credentialing.

Objectives:

1. Recognize safe and efficient aspects of OR setup and robotic equipment setup. 2. Identify effective port placement and optimize the use of robotic and laparoscopic assistant ports. 3. Describe factors of positioning for patient safety. 4. Recognize the importance of the role of the bedside assistant. 5. Identify the key steps to troubleshooting robotic equipment 6. Discuss the need for staff education and development for operating room staff.
