God wants you to live a Joyful, Victorious, and Happy life! (Part 2) April 20, 2008

Opening scripture: John 15:1-11

Five essential ingredients for living this way:

1) Your relationship with God

Happiness and joy are the fragrance of an obedient life in the Lord

Psalms 144:15 (NLT)

15 Yes, happy are those who have it like this! Happy indeed are those whose God is the LORD.

Nehemiah. 8:10b Do not sorrow, for the joy of the Lord is your strength."

Psalms 5:11 (NLT)

11 But let all who take refuge in you rejoice; let them sing joyful praises forever. Protect them, so all who love your name may be filled with joy.

“Your present focus determines your present feelings”

Psalms 16:11 (NKJV)

11 You will show me the path of life; In Your presence is fullness of joy; At Your right hand are pleasures forevermore.

Psalms 30:4-5 (NKJV)

4 Sing praise to the Lord, You saints of His, And give thanks at the remembrance of His holy name.

5 For His anger is but for a moment, His favor is for life; Weeping may endure for a night, But joy comes in the morning.

Romans 14:17-19 (NLT)

17 For the Kingdom of God is not a matter of what we eat or drink, but of living a life of goodness and peace and joy in the Holy Spirit.

18 If you serve Christ with this attitude, you will please God. And other people will approve of you, too.

19 So then, let us aim for harmony in the church and try to build each other up.

Isaiah 56:7 (NLT)

7 I will bring them also to my holy mountain of Jerusalem and will fill them with joy in my house of prayer. I will accept their burnt offerings and sacrifices, because my Temple will be called a house of prayer for all nations.

The conditions of joy and peace are both based upon perfect obedience

2) How is your relationship with yourself?

Do you feel good about yourself? Don’t let past hurts and memories chain you in the prison of defeat! Smash the locks of your prison! Dare to resist the hurts and disappointments of yesterday.

Happiness is feeling good about yourself. Your sense of value and worth determines how good you really feel. Feeling good (or happiness) depends on 2 things:

A) Your relationships. B) Your achievements.

You were built for connection. Our creator established our need for relationships, the need to receive love and the need to release love.

3) Your relationship with your family

Wipe out criticism in the home. Set the daily tone of your home with a good attitude and gentle words.

4) Friendships are greater than gold.

Proverbs 13:20 (MSG)

20 Become wise by walking with the wise; hang out with fools and watch your life fall to pieces.

1 Corinthians 15:33 (NKJV)

33 Do not be deceived: "Evil company corrupts good habits."

We must have :

• A Teachable spirit

• A Winner’s mentality

Stop thinking about obstacles and start thinking about your opportunities. Talk positive words. Think good things about yourself and others. Stop complaining! Project enthusiasm! Avoid negative and depressing conversations.

5) Setting goals

Accomplishing goals is important in life.

What do you look forward to?
